Dieseling pellets on purpose?

I say this having never tried it and with no intentions of changing that.
If you want to go fast and make noise buy a .22 rim fire. I don’t see how it could be consistent/ accurate and for all the reckless things I’ve done in my life you won’t catch me laying my cheek on an experimental explosion even if it is half a cap gun.

Don’t take that as me shaming you for bringing it up or even negative to the people who have tried it. If no one took risks or tried new things we’d still be throwing rocks and walking everywhere.

After some light reading on the subject, it looks like there's much more fouling at a minor (if any) velocity increase. This video by TAOFLEDERMAUS shows a high-speed comparison of intentional dieseling with no apparent benefits (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8h3v5TbFTQ).  Now that's only one case, so I'll assume there may be anecdotes where people show some benefit to this.

So, assuming that there is some velocity benefit to dieseling, we need to recognize that this is working under the assumption that faster=better. However many of us know that this is not the case for air rifles. The fastest shooting airgun is not always the most accurate one. There is a lot of potential for error in the amount of the substance placed into the pellet, which can lead to a lot of variance in your ballistics. Now, what if you don't care about accuracy and just want the power?

Even if consistency isn't your thing, you're risking damage to the airgun itself. Those seals were not necessarily made with the extra heat, chemicals, and pressure in mind. I wouldn't even test it on my own guns. Knowing I could weaken the internals of my gun makes me way too nervous.

It's not worth it.

A friend pestered the heck out of me to sell him my Gamo Raptor. It was cheap, but very accurate and it was what I used for hunting in foul weather. Thinking I'd gain a shooting partner, I sold it to him cheap. I instructed him on maintenance and warned about dieseling. Some weeks later he of sent me a video of him shooting it at night with a very small flame coming out the muzzle. Of course he had to cut the "whisper" mod off to get the flame to show. Now both the gun and he are dead to me.
