Did somebody get HOSED on eBay?

I had a buddy get burned on ebay. He sold some rc cars to some dude a couple states away. The guy claimed the cars were in bad shape and "sent them back" he was forced to give back the cash as soon as the tracking number showed it was in route back to him. He received a box of rocks with the same weight. He was not happy. Ebay wasnt much help as they claimed buyer "sent back the item with tracking"

I think the buyer was from Mississippi or somewhere close. Maybe he moved... Still messed up.

Sounds like the gent in another forum who got a piece of branch as replacement for his AG.

The buyer returned it, saying it had a defect of some sort.

The buyer even had the nerve to sell it on Ebay.

If the seller has “Zero” feedback I think eBay holds the money until the buyer gets the item and post feedback. A safeguard/protection for the buyer.

It's my understanding that eBay holds the money on new accounts for 30(?) days or until the buyer deposits positive feedback.

It is also not possible to sell on eBay without a valid mailing address & a bank account to go with it.

If anyone finds the listing please send me (or post) a link.

I'm curious about it

Ed

This was the email notification I received. I didn't notice the "Sale benefits charity" which might entice trust and a quick buy. It was sold for best offer and now the listing is gone from advanced sold item search. The sellers ID was a couple of letters and then digits....something like AG34781 (0). With all the bogus scams going on, I'm hoping that eBay stopped the transaction before any money was passed and removed the listing.

I bid in a scope once that seemed too good to be true. Seller joined that day. Zero feed back. Super scope for $35 wow! Knew it was a scam but wanted to see how Ebay's guarantee was. Well the seller was listed as being in Alabama but the tracking number started with a C so it was coming from China. When it didn't show up I contacted Ebay and opened a claim. A buddy said I would never see the money again but it was back in my pay pal acct in a few days. As far as I am concerned buying on Ebay using Paypal is as safe as it gets IF you check the detailed description below the item. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy a scope or any other item that is commonly counterfeited without the UPC code. Example: if you buy a leupold scope and it has a upc and you GOOGLE it. If it comes up as legit and shows that item for sale at legit places then you are safe because if you get a Leupold made in China it will not have that UPC code on the box. There are companies taking quality names and building products in China and the Chinese govt is allowing it. So in Ebays eyes you are actually getting what you paid for, HOWEVER, if they list the UPC code for an American built Leupold and sell you a Chinese made Leupold you have been deceived and Ebay will refund your money. If the seller won't list the UPC code stay away!!! Chinese companies have taken names like Leupold and Zeiss and have started manufacturing plants and it is quite legal according to China. The US disagrees however and now is putting some restrictions on importing scopes.

Hey guys, I am a fairly new eBay seller. I can confirm PayPal sits on the money per eBay's request. When the tracking number showed delivered, I think about a day later the funds were released. (Just enough time to complain didn't get actual product)

I do have a couple of screen shots to share since I did send msg to that FX seller. The description said synthetic stock, with wood stock pics.

The listing seems to be deleted not sold. I have attempted to buy something too nice priced (forgot, maybe phone?) The sale completed, then eBay informed me sale was void.

I've got zapped with ebay just in the last 3 months. Ordered something from ebay from a new seller. I knew it was a fake, as I saw it was 0 feedback. But the item was new and too good to be true. Lol

Well I Never recieved the item, waited a month. No tracking and it showed up deleted from my purchased section after a month.

Luckily I spoke with ebay and they realized the member was gone/ deleted from their system. They returned my money no issues after I opened up a case with them.

If they would have not helped I would have had PayPal step in. but I got lucky.

I don't see how you can get hosed on Ebay.

I did. Sold a National cash register brass drawer front, specificity with no returns. Buyer found a tiny defect in the drawer pull...bitched... and eBay forced me to pay his return shipping of $14.00. Relisted and resold for $14.00 more and that buyer gave me great positive feedback.

My apologies, I should have stated buyer protection not seller.

Both ebay/paypal and aliexpress are very professionally setup their buyer insurance policies, since 2002 I had issues with maybe two items I received, long back in years.

Usually new to ebay doing mistakes not understanding that a clean business makes both sides happy.

I sent an email both to a seller and to customer support and I got all my money completely back. I asked ebay where me to send the items back (meaning who is paying for shipping) they sad keep it or just give it away.

I remember the last one was last year, a Tokina lens (second hand for Canon DSLR) market value about $500, got my money back and the lens (with a scratch on front element) is in my drawer.

Aliexpress also refunded my money 3-4 years back I believe the wrong item (or wrong collor of the item) was in the box.

I know for sure the buyers protection insurance is working great, they want your business.
