Did somebody get HOSED on eBay?

I would say yes. No way seller does not know true value of item. If sold by 3rd party out of spite there will be hell to pay. Or the simplest explanation- bogus sale or fraud period. Does not initially pass the sniff test.

I went back to the listing and now it is gone. It does show up in "sold" listings, but when I click on it ..it's been removed. I bet the seller got the money and skipped away 
I was going to see if any of the other pictures might show a serial number. It was sold today with a best offer....so it didn't even bring $500.00.....weird none the less.

I don't see how you can get hosed on Ebay. 100%buyer protection. plus you add all the layers of protection: Credit card (make sure you have a good one) paid though Paypal (protection) on Ebay (protection). I've had problems on Amazon but never on Ebay, don't get what you were supposed to? money back!

I did. Sold a National cash register brass drawer front, specificity with no returns. Buyer found a tiny defect in the drawer pull...bitched... and eBay forced me to pay his return shipping of $14.00. Relisted and resold for $14.00 more and that buyer gave me great positive feedback.

Probably fell on hard times and lowered the price to get $$$ ASAP! Imagine your options.. Pawn shop or eBay (online)

Crazy..I am there all the time and there are many wise buyers,it would have be be sold like with a buy now price to go that cheap.
As was stated it was reported to ebay...eBay is pretty safe place..as is paypal eBay does pay attention to complaints ,way better than Facebook ...my opinion ... 1550 transaction eBay and paypal experience talking....with no problems to talk about....

Seems to me the seller takes most of the risk and the buyer is sided with the majority of the time.

This is pretty much the way it is on eBay. As an example, someone buys a camera that functions perfectly, they use it for a month and then drop it in a lake. Buyer opens a case against the seller and eBay reimburses the buyer.
Also, there really is no such thing as no returns on eBay.

He had 0 feedback and was a new member. That's a big red flag. He probably stole those pics off google and posted it. Maybe he was using a burner account.

If the seller has “Zero” feedback I think eBay holds the money until the buyer gets the item and post feedback. A safeguard/protection for the buyer.
