Diana problem not scopes.

Been fighting this issue sense I got my Diana. Sent an email to AOA where I bought it. The last time we talked they said scope. I got a good deal from PA on scope and pellets.

First set 5AM this morning second set 9AM. WHAT IS GOING ON????

Dave, the photo does not show your gun. Many of us have had similar problems and most of the issues are something loose or misaligned and shifting. One of the culprits to check is the LDC. Is it loose, tipped, bad crown, etc. You get to play detective and move from one end of the gun to the other slowly testing as you go. When you find it you will smile and be able to tout your ability. If you don't want to pursue the detective work send it back for a replacement.

I posted in scopes this morning about my new UTG scope. The first pictures. Went in had breakfast, played on the computer. Went back out at 9AM you see the results in the second pictures on each range. bottom picture is my back yard and shooting range. Diana Stealth.

Ever thing is tight. It set in this stand for three hours and did not move, until the second set of photos. The temperature did go up about 15 deg. I live in Phoenix.

Dave, did you happen to clean the barrel just before shooting first group? If so, what did you use to clean it? Have you tried again and what were the results? Were both sets of shots taken using the stand pictured?

Dave socaloldman is spot on you’ll feel really chuffed when you find the problem but it will drive you mad until you do. I had the same problem with my 22 cal Trail a few months into owning it. At first I did all the usual things checking stock screws, breach seal, scopes, shooting style and consistency to name a few. But the problem still continued. I would shoot in the morning zero the scope and in the arvo I’d have the same results as you. I then took the rifle apart cleaned it and fitted a new piston seal. No luck.

I then tested the ram to see if it was consistent and not leaking buy putting it in a drill press and measured the pressure it took to compress. That was all ok as well. Put it all together and still the same. If I left the rifle in the morning sun for 5 minutes the poi would be spot on after a few initial shots where you could see the pellets climb to the target.

I still wasn’t happy so I bought another ram which was 5 kilos less then the Benjamin one. Problem fixed, I was a happy chappy.

This may not be your particular problem but I thought I’d share with you my experience. Hope you find it soon.

What kind of rest are you using? I never rest any part of my springers on anything other than my hand and shoulder, front hand on soft bag stock into shoulder no part of the gun touching. That's the only way I get consistent POI, if I get any POI movement I know it's me.

Did you get your fps spread under control? You should see less than say 8fps difference max, period. No matter the wiat time/temp ( within reason)

yes, I did not clean.

Dave unless your hold doesn’t change dramatically from session to session by the looks of the results of yout tests it seems to me to be either piston seal or a lubricant issue. As your rifle is still under warranty I’d return it with copies of your targets and chrony tests. Let us know how yo go.

I took it back to AOA and left it for them to check out. Said they would make it right. Won't know anything until next week. Does look like they are a little short on help.

Dave, I can’t speak for Springers, but your onto something with the temp differential. Depending on what kind of metals are used on the gun, specially if there are two different metals that are interacting with each other, temperature could be your culprit. 

I had the exact thing happen to me with the KG Mini Carbine PCP. Fortunately I was able to use an O-ring to isolate the Shroud from the action and that solved the problem for me.

Believe I have gun shooting again. Two things I have changed. I tried another tin of pellets ( they are very tight putting them in) the groups tightened up, but still had some not hitting well. Put my gun in my gun stand and started checking the parallax. The scope was good up the 30 yds, but when I look at my 40 yd. target, with the scope set at 40yds. the cross hair move all over the place when I move my head. Started moving the yardage up until the cross hairs quit moving when I moved my head around the scope. It was over 50yds when the cross hairs quit moving. At 40 yds. now the POI is consistent, but between 85deg and 113deg the pellets drop about 1.5 ins.
