Diana Outlaw Mods?

I've been thinking of buying one of these as it appears to tick most of the boxes I'm looking for in another PCP. They are still not available yet in this country, Aus, but are expected next month. I have spoken to the importer and he tells me that the muzzle is not threaded so I might have to see about an adaptor before I order. Information about this gun is a bit thin, good or bad. Does anybody know how well they have been selling there and have there been any troubles starting to showup. I have so far had quite a few breakages with my other two PCPs and I don't want another lemon. I am also considering waiting for the Dreamline to come out but spending the extra dollars on a high-end brand doesn't guaranty any fewer problems. Firearms dealers in this country are wiping there hands of PCP airguns as are gunsmiths that will touch them.  cfarm. Are you getting those figures with the standard reg on the factory settings? The manufacturer claims 35 FP for the .22 but the revues are only getting 27-28.

Eaglebeak, I was getting about 28 fp with 18.13 JSBs out of the box, about 33 fp now at 910 fps. By adjusting the regulator, I would think they are capable of 35 fp or more with heavier pellets, but I haven't tried them. I bought mine in June, but I haven't had time to test many different pellets yet. Accuracy so far is just so-so, 5/8" at 50 yards,1/2' occasionally, but with the right pellets who knows. These guns are a sound design, are super easy to work on, and parts and spares are readily available and cheap. I am supper happy with mine, and think they are a lot of gun for the money. When funds allow I will get one in .25.

What's up with the Firearms dealers and gunsmiths?

Cfarm: I just ordered my Donny adapter with a Tatsu. I have been thinking about getting that regulator but I’m more interested in getting extra shots than power. I have some pest birds 15 to 20 yards. I have the .177 that gets around 45 shots per fill and me being a hand pumper I would like to shoot more before I need to pump.

Eaglebeak: so far I have no complaints about the Outlaw. I just added swivel studs and a bipod. I have shot dime size groups at 35 yards. I was also waiting for the dreamline but I lost patience and picked up the streamline in .22. I love that rifle and it’s versatility. Either way you go, you can’t go wrong. The Outlaw will just need some extra TLC to perform well.

cfarm.

The firearms dealers over here are fed up with the warranty claims and are choosing not to bother with them anymore. Gunsmiths are a dying trade here with most of the old guys either falling off the perch or retiring. Most of the ones left consider themselves above airguns. The high hourly rates and the relatively low price of most airguns make them not worth repairing. As for higher end PCPs, the pneumatic aspect frightens them from attempting repairs. The market here is just not large enough for specialist PCP repairers. The barrel adaptors that you mention. Are they for a 1/2 UNF barrel thread, or to convert to a 1/2 UNF from something else or just a slip on to 1/2 UNF? Does the end cap on the shroud unscrew to reveal a threaded barrel. I've been told by the importer that the muzzle is not threaded so if I can't work something out cheaply, I might wait for the Dreamline.

Thanks luisberry. Do you know what type the standard thread is? perhaps 1/2 x28 or something more exotic? If so, I can get something made here. Does the barrel thread need to locate the shroud? If possible, I would like to loose the shroud. Our airgun industry took a big hit about 20 years ago after a licenced loony run amok in Tasmania with a handful of legal assault rifles and killed about 32 people That's when they classified all air rifles as firearms.

Luis, I assumed you wanted more power, most do. If you can find one, a shorter or weaker spring may help some with shot count. But again the best strategy would be to adjust the regulator down. You can try shortening your hammer spring 1/2 coil at a time, but I would want spares before doing that. Contact spa at: [email protected] Tell them you want to order parts for a M16 and request a exploded parts view. Parts are dirt cheap; mags are $10, regulator $7. I bought 2 mags, 1 reg with fedex shipping for a grand total of $45, vs $39.99 + shipping for one mag from AOA. SPA is slow to ship but do take PayPal.

Eaglebeak: I do not know what kind of thread it is. When I get home from work I will PM you some pics if you’d like, so you have an idea of what it looks like. And that’s unfortunate. Sad to hear that 32 people died.

Cfarm: I still want power but for now I’d take extra shots. Once I get an SCBA tank Id crank the power up. Thank you for th contact info for SPA. Can’t wait to finally tune the rifle out.

Sorry to hear you had troubles. First I have heard of anyone having a problem with Mags. I would phone my dealer and see if they would make it right.

I ordered a spare mag directly form SPA (and other spares). Mags were about $10, shipping about $15. e-mail them and request an exploded drawing for their M16. They will send you a PDF. They respond very quickly, accept Pay-pal and take for ever to ship. Hope this helps. [email protected]
