Diana Diana model 10 is a honker

many year ago, Gary at B&B supply rebuilt a Diana model 10 i have
when it came back it worked great but on cocking the pistol it honked just like a goose, too damn dry the front seal and tube were
i ask about it he said it would go away
when working with the pistol lately and the honking is not going away and i have given it a good drink of oil
so, i have a choice tear apart a gun that is shooting fine and relube it correctly maybe change the front seal or leave it to honk
now i have done many model 6 Diana's but never had a 10 apart
my only problem is i don't want to do it

i thought if i could get some lube behind the seal it would fix it

this is a lesson for though do these pistols lube the damn cylinder before you stuff in the front piston
all you need is a dowel a sponge, put your favorite lube on the sponge and wipe the cylinder down lube the back of the seal and that is all
ULTIMOX 226 FOR ME oh well just another project

so, opinions please leaning on taking it apart and air pistol should not honk and the pistol should never have been shipped to me that was that is my opinion
thank guys

i just couldn't take it, so apart it came
you know i hate to say it but this job i paid money for was done very poorly
rear sight screws were 2 turns loose the barrel pivot area is as dry as a bone, the front piston has not one bit of oil or grease present i see no oil or grease anywhere and the rear cap which i have not got off, the screw was not in place
this coming from, at the time a well thought of rebuilder, i am not an expert but at the same time i am a damn good mechanic and that means there is one way to do it, THE RIGHT WAY
they come apart besides the rear cap in 15 minutes if you are slow
i have to take a spring out that will clear the sear and the guts
tomorrow i will see what the problem is, oh wait THERE IS NO DAMN LUBE IN THE PISTOL HOW BLOOD STUPID
you can tell i am pissed oh well i have another 10 to do this will be practice

rear cap is off and yes it is 1:30AM in the Seattle area, it was SOB to get off and yes it would have kept me awake all night
the rear cap has the factory original spacer behind the step washer and the rear piston seal was never changed
now i sent all the parts needed back to him
rear cap is soaking in acetone
side gear caps are loose already so i can take the guts out as planned
to say i am disappointed would be a huge understatement
i guess if you want it done right do it yourself
and the rear cap was taken off with a 6 inch vise and an old Bianchi leather belt
more to come

well i think i found the problem
i have said that you cannot clean one of these pistols weel enough for my money
i use and cable Demel tool with a brass cup brush on the end when i get close
now i have also said never use the red seals they were over size
now you mix an uncleaned cylinder with the wrong lube and a red seal and you get a honker
you mix the crap left in the cylinder with lube and you get a piston that looks like this

i am thoroughly discussed
the cleaning begins

well, the damn pistol should not make noise when cocking
i have 3 other model 10's and they are quiet

That’s real dedication! Haven’t played with a gun at 1:30 AM since I was in the service. I have no doubt you will be victorious! John

the clean-up begins it will be better than new and the gun will get the care it deserves
my question is this
how many of the Giss System rebuilder take the time to do the job right, i don't believe they could charge enough
it takes hours of detailed cleaning to do the job right i guess with parts washers that could done
but a toothbrush with some sort of solvent, it takes time
