DIANA doing better.

BRAD made me longer pins for my cheek rest, which aloud me to get a more consistent site picture on my scope. I also got a pellet pin to load the pellets and seat the pellets the same every time. I'm still a poopty paper shooter. I hit a squirrel at 50yds this morning . We will see what happens when it get over a 100f this afternoon. I also had to fix my shot gun this morning, shell got stuck in the feed tube. Thanks for YOUTUBE to show me how to pull it apart.

Dave,

What model Diana do you have?

I have a Diana .22 AM03 Mauser N-Tec ( follow on to the 34 P I was told); which I got last year from PA with a UTG 4-14X4-MM EZ tap scope. Zero'd at 25 yards and can't imagine taking a squirrel at 50 yards with that thing. Shoots pretty accurate at 25 yards paper targets (even better at 20 yards) with H&N 14.66 and JSB 15.89 pellets. But, 50 yards would be a long way for me to hit a squirrel with that gun. Also, never tried shooting any squirrel at 50 yards ( woods behind me is pretty thick ), so I really don't know how good it would shoot at that distance either. Would you mind sharing gun & scope that you used, zero distance and pellet type? Also, assume you used a hold over?

All I can say is that is a good shot at 50 yards with a break barrel! Nice shot!

Diana Stealth .22 Same AM03 Put a UTG 4-16x56 Bubble Leveler AO Rifle Scope( the bubble is off level i don't use) Watching CYCLOPS vids I probability went with a different scope now. . H&N 14.66 Had to get the UTG adapter for it. that is why it sets so high. The pellet seating tool seems to have help my consistency, just started using it this morning. Mine likes to be held semi tight against the should. My gun really likes 30yds past that really touchy. I have a follow up on the scope posts, have a look,

FYI, seating pellets will reduce your velocity as you are effectively increasing the size of the compression chamber at max compression before pellet takes off. For my Diana 34, I adjust the pellet seater so it seats at the absolute minimum required to prevent pellet skirt damage when closing the barrel. Pushing the pellet into the barrel can reduce velocity significantly.

I played with seating this morning. using my chronograph. started off around 630 FPS seated in a ways. Ended up just barely pushing it in 690 FPS +- 5FPS . got 2 squirrel today one at 50yds and one at 25yds.
