Diana 54 Air King

I have a Diana 54 on the way. Does anyone have recommendations on pellets ? (.177 cal) How about mounts ? Do I need a drooper or cushion mount ? I have a one piece mount with a stop screw and a Bushnell Trophy 4X12 scope. This is the better older model that was on another rifle , a AA TX200 MK3. I will update with pictures once it arrives. Thanks !

I got a chance to shoot the Diana 54 today. Got the scope dailed in , and found out some interesting things. First of all , it likes the JSP 8.4 grain pellets . Dailed in at 20 yards , it was flat out to 40 yards. About 3" low at 50 yards , and some wind gusts blew the group about 4" left. Very flat shooting. While cocking , I found it is easier to push the back of the metal part of the rifle to reset the sliding rail mechanism. Otherwise , it takes extra effort at the end of the cocking cycle. Just a push at the base below the safety does the trick. tried it both ways , and it saves the arm muscles. I want to try distances beyond 50 yards , but it was too windy today.

It is the B52 of air guns. Heavy , accurate , fast , and mighty. No wonder they call it the Air King. I am just learning to tame the monster. Not really a rifle you want to tote around in the woods all day. But set up in a hide , it will be a killer. Where we hunt is dairy's for ground squirrels and pigeons , and using small hide tents with seats and tripods . Drink your coffee or hot tea and wait. I think this rifle will cook them just fine.
