Went from factory spring and guide to a Macarri kit and that went well but still a tad bit noisy for the backyard and just too much..
Next step was to remove the Macarri and go back to the factory spring but cut it down, they are cheap, and see what fps reduction I'd get from that.
factory spring full length ... FX / JSB 15.9 at 720fps
factory spring cut 5.5 coils ... FX / JSB 15.9 at 620fps
Much easier for ME to shoot at this power level!!!
Next step, since this power level is appropriate for MY springer skills, is to get / make proper guides for it. Buddy has a lathe and I've been itching to get one. Watched a Paul Watts video on springs and now have a grip on what tolerances, between spring and guide to 'shoot' for.
