Diana Diana 48 questions.

I heard somewhere that Vortex Diamondback is springer safe. Are we talking Diana 48 safe or just basic springers?

Also, I want to shorten the barrel on mine, does anyone do work on Diana 48 or is there a way I can do it myself?

I emailed vortex about their scopes and air rifles. They replied that all their models are springer rated. Hawke responded the same to me.

Regarding cutting, crowning and choking your D48 barrel, you may want to reach out to “John in PA”. He’s well regarded for doing this work and personally done a D36 barrel for me. Price was very reasonable. His number (hopefully is still good) 717-873-5128.

The side-lever Dianas have strong chokes which they need, so unless you have the means to re-choke the barrel after shortening (like John in PA would be equipped & skilled to do) you are better off shortening the barrel from the breech end (quite a bit trickier), or best yet, leave it as is.

I've had three sidelever Dianas (a 48, a 52 and a 54), and see no reason myself to go for shorter barresl. These guns are short, with excellent balance, as is. YMMV.
