Destructive squirrels meet their end

Been working a ton this May and wife calls me and tells me she’s seeing a lot of ground squirrels on the property last few weeks. Sure enough get the call her RAV4 has a check engine light and isn’t running right. Get home and wires are chewed through and squirrel crap on the engine.

So I get right to work. Right away find two fat ones sunning themselves flipping me the bird. So I grab my trusty Wildcat MK2 and dirty nap time. Now I just got to get all their idiot kids running around this week. Oh and pay the car repair bill. Can‘t let up for even a second or they will destroy everything around your property.

Oh yeah. They climb everything. We find them hanging on the side of our stucco walls all the time. They are on our roof often too.
@CoyoteGod I had no idea. I don’t think I’ve lived around them to the degree that I’d notice much of anything that they do. They sound like a PITA. How far out were your shots?

We've had outdoor stair lighting damaged several times by our gray squirrels ( one bit to deep, have the skull for the Grandson's collection). During season( of
course) they were methodically removed. Neighbors have had car wiring issues also.

A chewing squirrel needs to die, no matter if itsa ground or tree kind.
10's of thousands of dollars i have forked out on farm equipment repairs from them basturd's !!!
i have killed many of them on the farm. and there is always more in a few weeks.
they chew thru plastic 55gal drums to get to the sweet feed i have for my calves.
kill'um all 🧑‍🌾

@CoyoteGod - Is this normal ground squirrel behavior? I had no idea they would go after car wiring. Grey squirrels will do the same here in Michigan. My friend has a constant battle with them on his farm.
Here is the high desert of California it is. during this time of late May and Early June the population explodes with the new babies coming out of the dens and they eat everything and dig under everything. Unfortunately even cars.

Yep, same here. There's a ranch my son works at part time just a 1/4 of a mile away. They asked me to help clean up their problems. Not only are they a problem for the horses, they killed a dozen trees digging their dens underneath. Got 47 on Sunday and 35 on Monday. Heading back down this evening. This ranch has them In every direction over 75 acres.

As with most wildlife, management is the key.
