Delta Wolf .25 cal. aka "White Fang" ready for the range...

Ok, so I shot White Fang for about 3 hours this morning with my buddy Tony @pesty3782 and his wife Barb. Conditions were bad with constantly swirling winds 12 to 15 mph, some gusts even higher. I started off shooting the .25 Exact Heavy at about 885 FPS. Here are two groups eight shots each. Best I could do under the conditions.

After that I tried shooting the Exact Heavy at 915 FPS and again at 860 FPS, but 885 seemed to group the best. One thing I did notice is that my Mk1 Heavies are EXACTLY the same as the Mk2. I’ve read on AGN recently that this is a common issue with JSB and that many cases of Mk2 were filled into Mk1 tins, or labeled incorrectly or something. I do know I would have liked to try some REAL Mk1s in the Delta Wolf because I’ve heard they shoot better in that barrel than the Mk2.

Anyway, I had some JSK KO slugs and some FX Hybrid slugs, so I tried them at 50 yards. The KO at 925 FPS and the Hybrids at 960 FPS. No Bueno. See below. Top photo KO, bottom photo Hybrids. 10 shots each.

So after that we shot some KYL and did some plinking before we moved back to 102 yards Really too much wind to make any definitive calls, but here is ten shots shot rapidly during a slight lull in the wind. Aim point kept constant, center bullseye.

All in all, a good start with the new .25 Delta Wolf. I fill to 250 bar and shoot to reg pressure at 170 bar for about 50 shots. I didn’t try shooting past reg pressure to see how the gun would handle that, but I think it’ll shoot another ten shot mag without dropping off speed. As far as a pros and cons list I’ll work on that after I get to know the gun better... Many pros, very few cons. Here’s a pic of Tony shooting White Fang and his ten shot group at 50 yards.

My initial overall impression of the .25 Daystate Delta Wolf...

I don’t like it...

I LOVE IT! ;)

Wow Centercut! Looking great! White Fang is looking lean and mean! I like the fact that you chose the lighter colored Luth-Ar Grip...I have a black one on my Impact and really love it. I never was a "thumb up" shooter and my big hands wrap around the Luth-Ar Grip perfectly. I like your choice of scope for Fang also. Just as a test I would like you to shoot some of the Heavy's straight from the can, and then some that you have cleaned with Acetone and weighed out on your grain scale to say 0.2ths of a grain and see which ones group tighter for you out of that polygonal rifled barrel. Congratulations on obtaining one of these beautiful guns.

All the best, Chuck

Hey CC. Yeah, it was pretty windy today for sure. Up in Ramona and it was likely in the 11-12MPH range, not much good shooting for groups in that wind and like you, tried to get some rapid shots in during the very few lulls this morning.

Not saying that I have a White Fang, nor that it wasn't fun, just being out is fun! Just agreeing with you as I thought about your trying out your new toy in this wind today.

Supposed to be windy manana too. Maybe better on Monday.

Nice gun, decent groups in this wind and look forward to more reporting. Stay safe!

Mike this is the scale I use to weigh my pellets...it works great as opposed to a half dozen other ones I tried before I found it at Bass Pro Shops. I always clean my pellets with some Acetone before I weigh them to get the gunk off them the factory uses to keep them from all sticking together. Then after weighing them I give them a light mist spray of the Napier Pellet Lube. Just as a test, shoot some groups at 50 yards straight from the can; then some groups with ones that have only been cleaned; then some groups with ones that have been cleaned and weighed to 0.2 of each other; and then last shoot some pellets that have been cleaned, weighed to .02 of each other, and lightly lubed with Napier Pellet Lube. You will be amazed at the differences in these groups and I am sure you will like the end results. Its a lot of work but a labor of love...especially when your final groups are basically the size of one pellet hole at 50 yards. That will put one of those all day smiles on your face...hope this helps you win a big Trophy Mike! 😃

And these last two photos are what I call pellet on pellet accuracy with cleaned, weighed, & lubed pellets at 50 yards...

Hi CC, looks like you had some fun! were the KO's MKI or MKII? secondly H&N did a sample run of 6.36 slugs which are amazing in the ART barrels, I am not sure if they have or do plan to release them though!

Update on shots per fill. I had the gun set to about 885 FPS on factory setting with .25 Exact Heavy and reg about 170 bar. I decided to change to custom setting, and adjusted the Hammer setting to 3000 micro seconds and voltage to 78.5 V. Also reduced reg pressure to 155 to 156 bar. This resulted in 6 magazines (10 shots per mag) before it got to 160 bar, then another full magazine before speed dropped off. So about 70 good shots from a 250 bar fill at 60 FPE. Average speed from 890 to 895 FPS. ES improved also. First EBR card I shot in swirling windy conditions wax 225-3x. More to follow.

Very nice , I hope you'll have more to share. I have been thinking about the same set up but have been stewing over the Midas tac vs the new Hawke 6x24x56 FFP. sidewinder Several questions -- would you have any comment on the Hawke vs the Athlon? And what caps did you use for the Athlon? Kinda bugs me they don't have specific caps that they sell. Any comment on your scope mount --one piece vs. rings.

When you first turn the gun on re the safety is there a few seconds of delay before it's ready to shoot? If hunting is that an issue?

All looks great , thanks for posting! ksb
