Hello all,
I am a bit confused.
When I received my FX Impact M4 Extended .25 the valve setting was on 4,5 lines. My regulator was set on 90 bar.
The output energy was approx 70/71 joule with a speed of 964 fps or 293 meter per second (I am living in Europe).
Because the riffle was quite loud and the energy output was to high (I am shooting in an urban area) I put the valve knob to approx. 3 lines.
This changed the performance to 889 fps or 271 meter per second with, in my opinion, a quite good spread (4 meter/second) and a STD of 0,8 meter per second.
Because I was reading about the right way to tune the riffle I've read that the valve knob is something that you should use as a last resort when it comes down to tuning.
So, I set the valve adjuster back to 4,5 lines (because it was handed to me this way). Now the gun goes way to fast for my pellets: JBS King Exact 25,39 grains (.25).
My questions:
- What should I do: leave the valve adjuster on 4,5 lines but try to go from 90 bar to 85 bar or even 80 bar to get back in the range of the 889 fps/271 ms (with approx 60 joules)?
- What is the default valve setting of the M4? I've read 3, but also 4,5 and I am a bit confused: the manual shows an image of the valve adjuster with 4,5 lines on it?
- Should I leave the valve adjuster as is when tuning? I didn't want to touch the regulator pressure (90 bar) for now and used the valve adjuster to correct the speed
Which output do you think is the best: 964 fps / 293 ms / 70 joules OR 889 fps / 271 ms / 60 joules keeping in mind I am shooting in my 25 meter garden in urban environment?
Should I use 3 or 4,5 lines on my valve adjuster for future tuning?
Ps. The best ES/STD was done with the 889 fps / 271 ms as far as I have measured it. It had the lowest spread, which is the thing it is all about? What do you think?
Your help / knowledge is appreciated.
