Depends on your temps as others have said. In Florida, nightime temperatures for most of the season range from 55-80F, so here you can't leave one out overnight. You have to recover it within n hour or two and quarter it that night, then store it on ice for a couple of days to drain the blood. 

Blowflies and yellowjackets are also bad here until after the first couple of late season hard freezers.
