Decent moisture filter for my Yong Heng for around $100?

Hi all, I recently saw kayaker’s post on dry air. I do have that cheap little cotton filter that comes with the Yong Heng, but I’ve noticed even when filling a small aluminum bottle for my BSA super ten, lots of moisture comes out when I purge the air, and I’m sure that bottle doesn’t look to good after 10 years of use from the original buyer. I looked on amazon and saw a few, but many say that they interfere with filling tanks and Airguns, and that it interferes with charging tanks and Airguns, and that they do not filter the water out of the air. Any suggestions would be a great help.

Thanks, PlinkForFun

Last year, I found a local eBay seller that was offering the bigger/longer filter canisters and cartridges..

I grabbed one of them, and figured I'd convert it - by chambering it - and adding desiccant
[Different types can be found on Amazon]

A few months ago, the OEM turd finally gave me enough of a headache that I did a straight swap..
The larger tube even still using just the cotton filters seems to be working Much better - for now!
Then with the desiccant pellets, I expect even better separation performance in the future.

**As long as the filter isn't too 'restricting', it shouldn't interfere with filling..
I used mine and filled a 90 or 100 cu/ft tank from 0psi to 300+bar, and topped off another 88 cu/ft tank from 250-300bar

I didn't notice any interference as far as 'added restriction'.

I've always used the little delrin plastic restriction washers in-line anyways to help regulate 'slow fills'.
It takes a bit longer than doing free-flow fills, but, has seemed to help keep the temps down.

Where would you get the restriction washers? My Yong Heng heats to 50C when I’m filling a small 250cc aluminum bottle from 2200 ish - 3000 psi.
The moisture filter looks like a good choice, and a good price, but it’ll be late and I’m not sure if I want to pump moisture into my new FX that’s going to be here soon.

The 'restriction washers' or 'plugs'...

They almost always come installed in or rattling around the packages of male foster fittings..
When not used, you'll get a faster / less restricted flow.. When used, they seem to cut down the flow by almost 1/2..
I had a few extras that I put in various setups - depending on the flow I'll need..

They can also be filled in with epoxy and re-drilled w/ a smaller diameter hole to restrict more,
or, just drilled out a bit more - for more flow since they'd restrict less..

I know that there's another trick that you can use that involves putting a ball-bearing into the system..
I haven't done that personally, but see how it'd work. Like a restriction and like a check-valve.

*S-L-O-W* is most definitely the way to go! Especially if you'll be directly filling airgun cylindrs / onboard tanks..
The air is going to be compressed, and that builds up heat.. which also contributes to condensation / moisture..

The slower ya go, the more time the air has to cool back down a little during and after a fill.

I hear ya, the very last thing we want is to be putting moisture and/or contaminants into our guns.

Many of us have purchased the Tuxing filter and had no problems with them. I have been running mine for over a year now. First and only failure I have seen or heard about is the one from the above post. Looks like one side was cut most of the way through with a saw blade. Still it leaves me wondering.

If you are purging every five minutes and replacing the tiny Yong Heng filter, set it out to dry and reuse it, every twenty you catch the better part of the moisture.

I purchased mine here.

It gets that hot filling a little bottle? Are you using the pump and water?

I can usually top off a 60min scba and keep it under 50c.

Thanks DirtyDovi, totally going to get some of those to try out. I have an air Venturi line which has something similar, but it’s on the output end of the line, and it’s really only there to help seal the line.

Yeah, mine heats up FAST. I have a 5 gallon bucket filled half way. I’ve been dumping in ice cubes periodically just to prevent the pump from overheating. It’s about 20C ambient in my garage where the pump is, which isn’t hot at all. I haven’t bothered trying to fill my scuba tank because I’m sure it overheat in the first few minutes.

Yes it was cut it looks like the opposite to the fracture, it appears. But who knows. I posted it today on another topic thread to see everyone’s thoughts as I am trying to buy a gold one since everyone is recommending them, but I might go another route. I just have my little Mk4 for hiking and need a filter for it. I think it could have been, as another poster claimed, a potential product espionage? By a competitor maybe?! But then another poster said a guy named James a year ago was complaining about his doing the same thing. This review was posted March 15th 2020, so it appears it has happened at least twice based on what another member has seen. So idk. I might have to pay for which is okay for me, but I’d prefer to buy something on the cheaper side. Anyway thanks for the input

I used the gold filter. Whoever posted that picture must of fake it. Probably cut or did something with it. The gold filter is really thick and heavy and there is no way 4300 psi will break it in half like that. Even airtube on most guns isn't as thick and they are rated for 3000 to 4300 psi. Been using my gold filter for 3 years and not a single problem.

This works perfectly. I got it $90 at the time but it has gone up in price. The filter at the end of my fill probe is super clean so I know it's working well.

Awesome, I just saw this one on amazon and it seems like everyone who reviewed it really liked it. This is probably the one I’m going to get. Thanks

Yes, this is the coalescing filter, works really well. I dont get any moisture in my cotton filter after.
