They can be, but are not supposed to be. I am currently fighting with them over this one, see link below.

I returned mine from Optics Planet maybe it's that one. Mine wasn't used though just taken out of box not mounted or anything

From the photos you can tell that the one they sent me was obviously mounted... and badly mounted at that!
