De-Cocking a Weihrauch HW95

Howdy,

Just bought my first quality airgun, the Weihrauch HW95. I'd shot a similar years ago and thought I had the basics down. One thing I liked was the ability to de-cock it and the salesman showed me a way by sort of half way breaking the barrel and pulling the trigger and to NOT dry fire EVER.

BUT the manual states to de-cock an unloaded gun place muzzle against a soft object/pillow and pull trigger. Effectively dry firing into a pillow. I imagine some back pressure the key.

I also read that pulling the trigger with barrel in certain broke positions WILL cause serious damage.

There is nothing about a break barrel trigger pull technique to de-cock.

Oddly videos and online have revealed nothing but I saw with my own two eyes the salesman de cock as I said with a broke barrel of sorts.

Store has had me on hold for quite some time so figure I need a forum presence anyway so signed up here!

Thanks,

You should be able to de-cock your HW95 by breaking the barrel and pulling it to it's tightest position (ie so that the spring is completely compressed), then holding it tightly and squeezing the trigger. Then gently return the barrel to the closed position. Do not let go of the barrel under any circumstances!

My HW95 is old, but this has always worked for me. I can't imagine that the design has altered that much to prevent it.

X2 here! I've uncocked my R9 & HW95 the same way for decades with no ill effects!
