Daystate Wolverine "R" - First Impressions / Shots on Target / Pics

After shooting some of the most "high-tech" guns on the market I decided to simplify things a bit with the Wolverine R. By that I mean... Simple (no external adjustments), beautiful (look at that stock), efficient (gobs of shots), quiet & effective (no translation necessary). Out of the box I am pleasantly surprised with the fit, finish, and performance of this English beauty. Instructions: open box, admire, clean barrel, mount scope, have fun. Yeah!

My thoughts EXACTLY! I took my "R" out of the box, cleaned the barrel, scoped it, and started shooting. I still have not tuned it at all. It's been in storage for a while but, I had it out yesterday and was putting up some nice 100yd groups. Seems like it's going to be one of those rifles you can pick up and know exactly what to expect.
Now, give me this same rifle with an electronic hammer system!!!

I’ve had my .22 cal “R” for some time now and have just over 3700 pellets through it. From day one it’s been rock solid. I adjusted the hammer throw a tad to give me 890 FPS with the 18.1 JSB’s shortly after I took delivery. Since then, I have done nothing except shoot and occasionally clean the barrel. The POI never changes, the velocity is always the same and it’s just a joy to shoot. Compared to the Crown I had previously, this rifle is consistently accurate and reliable in every aspect. I would love an HP version in .22 next!!

Once I heard that there is a screw a little bit ahead of the trigger guard. If I remember correctly clockwise you reduce power and counterclockwise you increase power....
But there are members of the forum that could give you more precise instructions of how to do it.

For me, this Air Arms rifle is tormenting and tempting me. I have two "bottle guns" (Crown and Air Wolf MCT) and just ordered a third (BSA R10) There is something about the looks of the Air Arms S510 XS Xtra FAC that speaks to me. I would compare it favorably to the Daystate Huntsman Revere Regulated. Both rifles have a reputation for quality build and accuracy, two things at the top of my list. I would really prefer a .30 cal, which is not offered in either of these rifles, but I can get a .25 in either. Of course, the Wolverine HP R in .303 would be awesome, but not sure I want another bottle gun, though if any gun could favorable use a bottle it would be the .303.

The AAA Evol Paradigm is a beautiful gun. I will have to think about it. I like the idea of a tube rather than a bottle. 75fpe vs 100 fpe for the Daystate. Not sure if that makes a difference when shooting coyotes.

I have a standard Wolverine R .177 that was bought about 4 years ago. It has been a very accurate gun from the get go. It did develop a leak that took new "O" rings to fix. Anyone going into that gun should be reminded to de-gas the bottle first.
A while back, I believe on this forum, there was a post for a kit that locks the barrel in tighter than factory standard. It consisted of a shim that goes around the support area of the barrel and another piece that I don't recall what for. I could not find that post.
The author said he first tried the shim alone and it did a good job of tightening his groups. The kit was a bit pricey so I took the .001" shim stock I have and added it to the barrel as was shown and it did the same on my gun.
In general, it does seem that a weak point on these PCP barrels is often the secure point. That is one of the reasons tensioning barrels has become a thing.

I have a Crown yellow laminate in .22 cal with a 380 mm barrel. It shoots very, very well. I do agree with your comments about it's fit and finish. It's kinda industrial compared to Daystates. I like the cheaper high capacity magazines of FX compared to the $120 13 shot Daystates.
