Daystate Regal vs. Brocock Compatto

I have had both the Regal XL and Compatto in .22 caliber. Literally just sold my Compatto and never selling the Regal. WHY? Because Daystate is better built and has a better warranty. Period. I've had to send my Compatto for service twice for leaks.
Regal XL has the harper slingshot system which gives you 40 good consistent shots and accuracy is fantastic with the 18g JSB's or 21g H&N's. It also has a male foster for filling, making a pump setup very easy. I fill my Regal XL with a handpump and it's very easy.

While the Compatto was accurate, it has no advantages over the Regal except price.

If you have any more questions, let me know.

Regal XL is get my vote.

I have a Regal in .22 and have killed a lot of squirrels with it. It handles more like a sporter rifle than an air gun, has a very good trigger, is extremely accurate, and mine has been totally trouble free. I recommend it highly. I have no experience with the Brocock. In fact, I had never heard of it. When I looked up the Compatto on line, I have to admit that it looks a bit junky compared to the Daystate. That's just my impression from the pictures, and it is likely an unfair comment, so I certainly stand to be corrected. But, from experience I can offer this; I have three other air rifles, each costing over twice as much as the Regal, and the Regal is clearly the better value. In fact, I know of no better value in a precision air rifle.

I love my Compatto .22, I have made kill shots on pigeons (JSBs 18s) out to range finder measure 94 yards at the local dairy. Many pigeons at 50 plus yards, the gun is very, very accurate. I fill to 240 bar and shoot down to 150. I get 30 good hunting shots. I love the way the gun handles, I have a three-point sling on mine and a UTG bipod and a DonnyFl Tanto, which really quieted the bark. In my yard I can shoot out to 70 yards and do most days, I shoot at rubber rats, sidewalk chalk, black walnuts. etc.

The Compatto is basically the same gun internally as the Bantam. Both have the Harper Slingshot system (just like your Regales) both Compatto and Bantam have Lother Walther barrels (just like your Regales) the breach block on the Compatto and Bantam are basically the same as your Regals except for the bolt location. Though NOT interchangeable, the Magazines in the Brococks and Regales are just about identical. Even the trigger is basically the same.....the Brococks are built by the same company as your Regals. Daystate owns Brocock and the NEW brococks are based on the Regal. Big difference is the Regal is a rifle and both brococks are semi- bullpups.....shorter more compact for hunting. One other (BIG) difference is the Compatto can be had for 500.00 less and its just as accurate. If I was taking a gun out into the field to hunt and didn't want to have to worry about how beautiful it still looked at the end of the day, I know which one I would buy. Just an opinion.

I would get the used compatto on agn with three mags and huggett....I just sold my compatto but it was so dam accurate plus a perfect woods gun . I only sold it because for hunting I use a 25 and trust me I dont go in the woods much so it just collects dust. That air stream on the daystate does not make the daystate quiet so get ready to spend even more money to make quiet.

Good info, and according to Tony Belas:

"Yes, Brocock is made in the same factory as daystate but by a different team."

Between the two options, I'd say it depends on your personal preference , bullpup or traditional.

Daystate Regal XL being a rifle and Brocock Bantam/Compatto being semi-bullpup, comparing these is a little like comparing a two-door sports/coupe to a full-size four-door sedan. Different animals. Very different form-factors.

If you're going to be tromping around the bush hunting small critters, the semi-bullpup may be the better option - more compact, much more nimble and maneuverable, and less costly.

On the other hand, if you're going to be picking off critters from your back patio, or doing much target practice from a bench, the Regal XL is the better choice - more refined, larger and heavier, and more costly.

Sometimes the best way to go in cases like this is to get them both and live happily ever after! 😝

I have had both. I would choose the Regal. Unless we are talking about the Huma regulated model Compatto and I don’t have much info on those. From what I hear, the HR Regal is not much of an improvement over the regular non regulated model. I would certainly take a Regal into the field to hunt with. Life is short, shoot what you want. You can always refinish the stock or buy another stock.

You could also consider orher guns. Taipans, Kalibrguns, FX Wildcats, etc.

Good luck
