Daystate Red Wolf shooting really bad

I had a frustrating day at the range. I received my new RW yesterday in 22 and was very excited. Played around in the back yard and was alarmed to see how shocking the light pellets shot at 20 yards. But it appeared that the heavy pellets (JSP Beast 33 grain) shot well and much tighter.

At the range today (perfect day) the rifle would not shoot. It would dot up three and then sling one .5" away at 25 yards. Then I would play more and it would shoot 3 into a dot but the next group would be a 1"!! I shot my Impact .25 at the same distance and it ripped them all into a tiny group. I got my friend to shoot the RW and it slung shots around. I tried Medium, Low and High power. Nothing helped.

The test target from AOA looks decent (not amazing) and I will say that I can get the gun to group fairly decent at 25 sometimes but the more you shoot it the less confidence one has due to very erratic shots.

I am shooting the 33 Beast. That is better than the others but still poor.

I have note yet cleaned the barrel so that could be an issue. I am shooting off bags and a concrete bench. The pellets appear to be okay. This problem occurs in all power ranges. I changed scopes and it made no difference. I removed the shroud and it shot no better. I do get the sense that there is some vibration in the gun when I shoot but being new to PCP I do not know if that is normal. I got my friend to shoot it as well and it was slinging shots.

Does anyone have an idea what I am running into?

get that barrel cleaned and also check to see if yr parrelax on your scope is adjusted right

The parallax is perfectly set. Even if it was off, the rifle could not shoot 3" groups at 50 yards.

I think you may well be right about the cleaning. There may well be some contaminant in the throat of the bore which is damaging the pellet.

I did put up a different post requesting methods for cleaning. I think the pull through is likely the safest. Is Simple Green a good cleaning agent?

I did remove the shroud and that made no difference.

The suppressor is on very tight. I checked for evidence of clipping but it looks fine.

i have tried all pellets. When I use lighter pellets the groups get even worse

I have tried all the pellets on low, medium and high mode, no change other than it getting extremely bad on say High mode with Light pellet.

I shot most groups using single shot. The magazine does not appear to make a difference. I have checked the 33 grain pellets, they seem to be in good condition .

I will say that I get a stage feeling of a vibration when the gun fires. It is not something I feel with my FX Impact. It is almost as though something is loose within the weapon. But I can’t put my finger on it.

You say you tried all pellets but thats very vague unless you really did try every pellet made by every manufacturer out there. Exactly what brands of pellets and what pellet weights have you tried? Also what scope are you using and did you check all the screws on the rings and bases to make sure they are all tight? Check and make sure the rings and bases are installed correctly as well.

Seems you are using the wrong pellets, or shooting them at the wrong speed.

I had no luck with either the beast and new monsters, they sucked in all the guns I tried them in. You need a seriously powerful gun to get them to perform well. (900fps+)

Rule of thumb, aim for 880-900fps with every pellet you try, I'm pretty sure it will shoot lights out with a certain pellet, at least when there is no clipping issue ofcourse.

What pellets did AoA use for their group? Think you should try those first.

Hello- I also received my new Red Wolf, on Friday. Beautiful rifle, fun to shoot. Were my rifle shooting like yours appears to be (after just receiving it) my first resource would be those from whom I bought it. Call them, and follow their instructions. If there is still no luck, then send it back to them for repair/replacement. I do not believe in tinkering with a brand new, $2600 plus rifle, because I can. Let the warranty work it's magic.

Just my two cents.

Kind regards,
