Daystate Red Wolf accuracy problem

I am assuming the targets were shot at 50 yards/meters. I suggest you do all remaining set up using only the HP setting, and the 25 gr redesigned pellet. That will eliminate variables, and it's almost certain to be the best pellet anyway. I think there may be an O ring or electronic issue that is causing a 30 fps ES. But, I believe the most common fault is with the barrel, and I would concentrate on that first, try to eliminate it as a variable. A fouled barrel can cause enormous accuracy problems, and these poly barrels and high velocity are noted for it. Remove the barrel and breech O ring, and then scrub the barrel well with a brush and some type lead solvent, Ballistol should work. Scrub from the breech to aoid any damage to the crown. While the barrel is off, look closely at the muzzle crown and the air port at the breech, both should be smooth. The original barrel on my RW had a small burr at the port that was causing pellet damage and accuracy problems.
What pellet was the program set for from the factory? There seems to be an assumption that it is the 25.39 redesign. Mine came set for the Monster Beast 33.95. I didn't look until I couldn't get a decent group at 50 yards. The card that came from Daystate had 33.95 Beast at 925 fps. I obtained a tin and had the advertised velocity. Still wouldn't group better than 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 at 50 yards. I pulled the barrel and inspected the barrel. Transfer port seemed to have burrs. The breech area had chatter marks and and scoring in several places. Two of the grooves had severe distortion. My conclusion is that I didn't win the barrel lottery. Sent it back to AOA. Still there. Heard that they are trying to work on the barrel. Sorry guys you can not fix a bad barrel. I have pictures of the inside.

I have a Red Wolf HP in .22 cal. With the Gen 2 board. It shoots the 25 grn. RD pellets at 970fps on the medium power setting. It seems to me if this is truly a HP model you have, your velocities seem low. If you have access to a Daystate programmer I would check your perimeters.
Sounds like mine. What did the Daystate card say the board was programmed for. I thought 25.39 RD. Looked at card and was 33.95 Beast @925. On mid power shoots 25.39 where yours does. Mine has a bad barrel as I ran my borescope in it. 2 grooves have defects. There are many others in this barrel. AOA just used JB borepaste and shot it at 20 yards. Sent it back as good enough. I shoot 50 and 100 yard Benchrest. Has trouble holding an inch at 50 yards. I will reach out to Daystate direct. Hard to believe this barrel made it out. Too bad as the platform is awesome

The only responses I've ever gotten from Daystate when I had issues, was take the gun back to the retailer. I don't believe they'll do anything for you directly, good luck.

Is yours the .177cal or the .22cal?
22HP. The barrel is flawed inside. 2 grooves have bad spots as well as radial cuts in some others. Pellet skirt is being damaged as it contacts these areas. I only expect what Daystate claims in their specs.
"The Red Wolf delivers match like accuracy at the very extremes of airgun distances".

I have borescope the barrel twice now.

Airhead - I’m not understanding something here. If your gun is still under the 3 or 5 year Daystate warranty, AoA will replace your barrel with a new barrel. If you are getting push back, and they refuse, escalate to the owner.

They have done a few Safari .22 HP repairs for me “under warranty,” and have been excellent about doing the warranty work. My buddy had a bad barrel and they replaced it.

PM me if needed.

I'm not quite following here. Are you saying you have sent it back to AOA and they did nothing? If so, I'm surprised. That barrel is a mess, and there should be no issue with a replacement.
My bad. I read that you did send it back to AOA, and they polished the barrel and returned it. I don't know who did the work, but 20 yard testing, in this case was not sufficient. And the scope view shows problems that polishing will not fix. I went through a similar problem with a Red Wolf barrel, and AOA sent me a new one. It's frustrating, but hopefully they will make it right.

They claimed to have shot a 1/2" group at 50 yes. All they did was scrub it with JB bore paste. They seen the pictures of the bore. My hope is they have to shoot one in competition with one that bad. Not fond of anything AOA. See what Daystate has to say. Seen a post said had FX liner in his RW. Looking into getting a Lother Walther unchoked 22 barrel. At least there you get more than you pay for. My local dealer agrees with me that barrel is bad. He helped with sending it to AOA. Bad customer service won't be forgotten. It will shoot at 20 yards all pellets touching. Should be one hole at that distance.

There seems to be a protocol that says polish first, kind of like an orthopedic surgeon says do some PT and come back. Usually, both are valid. My last shoulder issue was a bad rotator cuff tear, and the surgeon said screw the PT, let's get an MRI. We did, he cut, and I'm doing well. Your barrel should present a similar compelling case to skip the polishing. If your car fender is smashed to the frame, it ain't gonna buff out! There was a time, I was very unimpressed with the AOA customer service, in fact, I avoided them. In recent years, I have received very good service. Something changed. Specifically, Steve Buchanan took very good care of my RW barrel issue.
