Daystate Red Wolf .177 Groups

I’m sure I could do better on a more solid base and lock down rest. But I don’t think these groups are to shabby. 😜

Each group consists of 10 shots in an open field. Unfortunately I don’t think I am good enough to show the true possibilities of this rifle. Shooting JSB Heavies in .177 cal off a plastic folding table and bags. Rifle is on high power and just over 19 ft. lbs. of energy.

No, just the FAC version. HP begins with .22 calibers and up.

I’ll be headed out to EBR in two weeks and really hope to shoot the .22 HP at the event along with the Brocock Sniper.

Never attended Airguns of Arizona’s EBR, so I really don’t know what to expect.

Just returned from the Pyramyd Cup last weekend, which was another great event!

Nice! Any tips for competing in the events? I’ve competed in many field target events with some success, but never benchrest.

Currently I’m registered to compete in the One Gun Challenge.

Have you had a chance to my video on Red Wolf yet? I’m working on part 2 over the next couple of weeks.

Welcome to the wolf pack!

Your groups at 30 yards and beyond look much like my own with a RW .22HP.

Gotta say that I do love the trigger, the cocking mechanism, and the electronic control over different power levels. The rifle is bleeding-edge in that regard!

I had hoped for better groups from this rifle, but think that perhaps I need to go with washing and sorting by weight, and cleaning the rifle every 100 rounds or so. I'm going to try those approaches to see if I can reduce the size of groups and the number of flyers.

COA! get plenty of tins of practice in LOL! you are right a steady bench, good front rest or bipod, good rear bag, good technique and breathing!

You should be able to reproduce group 1 (1 hole) at 25 yards with the RW and the right set up! if you set the power level to shoot the 8.44 JSB select at circa 780 FPS you wont believe the accuraccy at 25 yards if you do your bit!

I kid you not this is 25 shots at 25 yards with the RW out of the box just a barrel clean and zero! okay so its indoors which does help a lot but my 3 .177 RW will all do it when I do my bit!

The 10.34g do shoot well in 12FT format but not as good as the 8.44g, trouble is the 8.44's dont seem to shoot at anything over 800 IME.

Daystate have addressed the red dye bleeding on the official Daystate forums

Here's what they have said

Hello,

This has been looked into at Minelli and they came back to us last week. Seems that some of the laminate from an European supplier does leach a bit of dye when wet. Interestingly it' seems randomly mixed in. It's compounded by when the area around the grip has been stipple it has removed the varnish applied to laminate stocks. Daystate ordered an 'improved' batch of stock which has just arrived but to a lesser degree still do it. In the meantime we have been experimenting on our demo stock and a couple or reject series Rosso stocks we have. We have found that it only seems to do it once or twice, applying boiled linseed oil or petroleum jelly (Ballistol Vasaline) stops it. We will be applying this to any replacement stocks and checking new stock batches from now on. Minelli are going to supply some special oil but we are still waiting for this. Should anyone still have an issue, please contact daystate at [email protected] and we will either supply the treatment or arrange for a stock to be switched over at your local Daystate dealer. Daystate and Minelli apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. Tony Belas"
