Daystate omega or kong big foot?

Is there a reason it can't be rebuilt? after all it's just an air pump. Bore and Stroke it out, port and polish the intakes for better flow, maybe even a Turbo charger to pre-boost.

If you can get parts or cross check the part numbers, I'd rebuild and go.

Smitty
Probably could but i understand parts are expensive and hard to get and quite frankly id like something a bit more robust

I had an Omega Turbo Charger. .. Key word Had...

Here was my experience with it.

Pro's:
1) It was a Very quiet unit
2) I used it to fill Large tanks and sometimes direct to gun, worked ... well* ...
3) Decent speed to fill a 100cu/ft Large tank

Con's :
1) Price , at the time i paid 1999.00 for it..Overpriced for this unit IMO
2) Not an Oiled compressor, uses a rinky dink dual Grease dispensing system for lubrication. Turn a couple knobs a few clicks every so often
3) I personally did not care for the " push in dial " set up for the auto shut off feature, was not very accurate, and quite frankly was a pita...
4) The biggest issue i had with is Lifespan, mine crapped out at 32 hours on the meter. I was super anal about keeping up with lube deal, it was pampered, it lived and always ran in an air-conditioned environment so you can't blame the blazing Texas heat for the premature death.
The death of it was basically what you had with your EC unit, would not go over 150 bar....

Ok now the final deal, i looked into rebuilding it, MAJOR PITA...
I contacted AoA, they in turn gave a dude's name that did their repair work
I did reach him and the options were as follows
1) he could sell me a rebuild kit and i do the work, i thought sure no big deal, WRONG.. Look on youtube on the rebuild procedure and you will say oh hell no..
2) he would do the rebuild for the cost of parts , trick was i cover shipping to and from, that was a no go , by the time i shipped it back forth i'm a minimum of 400.00 in shipping costs...

So in the end it sat in the corner of my shop for year until i sold it " as is " to a dude for 600.00 and wrote the rest off to an expenesive learing curve...

I have run Yong Heng 230.00 compressors ever since. I keep 2 on hand. when one dies i swap it out with the backup and rebuild the other for less than 40.00.. Rebuild takes less than 30 minutes
Funny thing about both of my 230.00 compressors is they have both gone longer before rebuilding is needed that that damn Omega......

Bottom Line best advice i can give you is do NOT waste your money on any of these mid-level compressors, 500.00 to 2000.00, they are all junk IMO

Either save up and pony up the cash for an Alkin or go Yong Heng, you can buy a truck load of the cheaper YH for what one of alkins cost though...
Just make sure to buy a Good Water filter set up and you are good to go...

Last thing on my YH set up, i ditched the bucket deal and went to a 350.00 water chiller enclosed unit, i can get water temps down to 42 degree's if i want to, the little YH is very happy and i don't have to deal with the nasty water bucket!

I hope this helps and good luck to ya

I have an omega super charger and an omega air charger. The super charger was much more money (1800) and was 3x slower than the less expensive (1200) air charger. The super charger made 120 hours before needing a rebuild. My air charger has over 350 hours now and is still going strong. It tops off a 97cuft tank from 3000-4500 in about 35 minutes. I’m happy with the air charger. I use it to top off a big tank about 4 times per week.

I have the Omega Air Charger also. Over 1 year and going strong. I fill (2) 75cu ft. tanks
about once per week. The tanks go down to 3000psi and it takes 20 min. to fill back to 4300psi
No problems but I also baby my stuff. Always run with a Joe B. filter.

Where did you get your filter and how much? Is it a pain to clean etc

Wouldn't a coltri be an better option for the money. I'm thinking a compressor made to fill bottles would have a longer life then a compressor made to fill guns. The longer compressor life would negate any extra money you'd have to spend for the difference. I'm on my 5th year with a yong heng filling bottles twice a month now. When it goes I'm wanting an alkin but will probably end up with a coltri depending what the prices are like then. Maybe I should just get a replacement yong heng. For the 240$ spent I feel I'm getting my money's worth.
