Daystate Huntsman Regal setting Altaros regulator

hi jimmy; thanks for the video's. I have watched him several times. pretty interesting. I am still curious about taking that inner part of the hammer apart. Going to go shoot and see what happens today. Really cold today but the sun is out so i think everything will work out just fine. Chorny will like the sun. Also will see what happens when i back out the hammer spring. Let me know what yours does with your hammer spring. later Bob

i have 2 leaks one at the end of tank where it meets valve and one at the weep hole on air gauge. i wander if i am screwing the tank tight enough after i install the reg. or is the o-ring on reg is bad. don't know what size o-ring is on reg. but i guess i could find out from Altaros where i bought the reg. now the weep hole on the air gauge might be a different ball game. do i have to buy a new gauge or is there an o-ring for that also. sure wish i had answer's

i thought i would edit my last post to this. Regulator is remove---filled to 3200psi---shot a string of 80---peak fps was 900---before i start install regulator where do i set it to? any help i'd appreciate it thanks

What was the pressure on the gun when you were peaking at 900fps? If it's 880-900fps that you're wanting the regulated gun to be shooting at I'd set the regulator at that pressure that you were seeing the 900fps.

I think I may have figured out why your velocities aren't where you want them. If the Altaros regulators haven't been changed they really don't have any plenum capacity. It just dawned on me that I went through the same dang thing when I tried regulating mine the first time. I was really aggravated and sent it back to them. Are they still using this regulator? Correct me if they changed them to include a plenum space.

I then tried the Huma with the extended plenum spacer. What a difference it made.

that's the regulator i have at this moment. you think they would take it back even though there is nothing wrong with it. oh i forgot there is something wrong with it. the 2 large o-rings on the reg. are a little flat for some reason. that's why it leaks. i take it that you seen the leak from the picture i posted. at this moment i have the reg. out because of the leak. i am back to unregulated shooting. i was shooting just a few minutes ago and i got up to 892 a couple times and the air pressure was right about 2400 to 2500 psi. so i would set my reg. at170 bar. man that seems a little high for some reason don't you think. ok back to the reg. i had the reg for about 2 weeks i will email them and ask if i can have my $$$ back. only problem sometimes is if i have to pay for shipping that get very expensive because of over sea's. i will let you know something as soon as i find out anything.

Mine is set at 160bar according to the little Huma gauge. I think I checked it against a digital test gauge so I believe it was really close. Did you remove both of the O-rings on the valve side like they show in their video so the regulator can vent? There's nothing wrong with un-regulated either, just find the sweet spot and limit the fill and shoot down pressure to keep the ES to maybe 30fps. You'd probably still have a 40 shot string with it set like that and within 40-60 yards there's not going to be a lot of difference in POI.

yes sir; I sure did remove both o-rings to let it vent. did you get to see the pic's i put on the post just lately? you can see the bubbles coming out right at the connection of tank to valve. and that was with the regulator installed. If Altaros refunds my money i think i am going to get me a Huma regulator. jimmy i am having a bad time with clipping. it's not all the time but it sure seems like it. i took off my Donny FL and looks at the adapter and you can see where it's clipping. Any suggestions? i just put a brand new o-ring at the end on the tuning fork. i thought that would help but i'm not sure it helping. knowing it's clipping at the adapter you would think that it would have shavings in the moderator. but there isn't any. I am still courious how your gun shoots so high in fps and mine use to but now it doesn't. I will play with my Daystate tomorrow and let you know something.

My gun can shoot a higher velocity because it has the extra plenum space from the design of the elongated regulator. That space (plenum) holds the pre-shot air which is a whole lot more that what the Altaros has (basically none). When you don't have a regulator in the gun you have the whole air tube as the plenum that's why it shoots so much faster.

As far as the clipping can you put the factory silencer back on the Regal and try that? You might also "safely" cock the gun, put it on safe, shine a light into the breech and look down into the Donnyfl and see if you can see any mis-alignment.

Does you gun leak with the regulator pulled out?

I follow you on the reg Jimmy. That's why i will probably end up getting me a Huma reg. I have already contacted Altaros about sending it back. Also when i told you about the speed i was actually talking about with no reg in the gun. I get about 902 sometimes and you said you had gotten about 940 that's kind of a big difference. i pretty sure i had gotten higher myself when i had just gotten the Daystate. That's why i'm wandering if the spring gets weak or i can not find the right amount of turns on the hammer spring. But i am happy with 902fps and when i get the new Huma reg i hope i can get anywhere close to 860 to 880. Ok; i will put on the factory silencer and check but like i said i see the pellet hitting on the adapter right before it passes through the silencer. Look at the picture below. You can see where it's hitting. But i will shine a light near the breech and look down the barrel for any misalignment. I am sure glad i am retired because if i had to do all this while working it would drive me crazy. You are right my gun does not leak without regulator. Just when i put the regulator in it leaks. have a great day Bob

hi rigbymauser, i would have to say the huma xxl continued from being installed into the Daystate huntsman regal. From what i understand the only change in the two air rifles are the new mag. and side lever. yes, i hear you on the brits but i'm sure glad i have the option. but, such as life. i just wish i could tune my Daystate huntsman regal.. i am having a hard time with it. but in time i'll prevail if the Lord is willing. just having problems with parts. i feel it should be an auto for someone from the states to receive a bigger plenum instead of any second guess.

I wonder what kind of Huma regulator the Revere has installed intheir FAC models?…some specific made for Daystate or the one fo7nd on Huma homepage?.

It must be easy for most brits to tune their pcp to surpas the magical 12ft/ibs by just buying upgrades.

My Revere .25 has what appears to be a specific for Daystate regulator. Looks slightly different and the plenum is about 1/2 the length of the XXL shown above. My reg settled out about 165 and I get 20 shots at 833 fps with the 25.39 JSB then falls off the regulator.

hi Buckshutr i have some info as to what the shot string maybe for the .25 cal. 20 shots seems to be low compared to what i read. If i recall right i think it was more like 35 to 38 good shots with 25 cal. i will try to find it so you can check it out. That reg. you said you have in your air rifle, you think it just might be a huma with a different name tag just asking? I wrote to Huma yesterday hoping for some good answer's. what ever i find out i will post for other's to see.

hi jimmy; no updates yet until my huma reg and air gauge comes in. just been shooting like i use to without reg. it shoot well but you know like i do i have that big bell curve.i use to fill it to 220 bar but now 210 bar. bell curve a little less but dead accurate. there is nothing like accuracy. jimmy, thanks for contacting me. i'll get back to you when it all comes in.

hi Richieg; your daystate huntsman regal .22 how old is it? did you ever adjust anything on the air rifle? just wandering because you started at about the same speed as mine did but my fill was 220 bar but 839 fps was my first shot and then it climbed to 892 fps somewhere around that ball park and when i notice where my needle on the air gauge was it was also at about 200 bar maybe 190 bar. then from there the speed kinda slowly decreased and the shot string was a little better for the next 20 shots. compared to as the first shot till about the 30th shot. i am also shooting jsb 15.89 gr. i don't think my daystate huntsman regal would shoot the same speed as yours with 18 gr. have you ever tried shooting the 15.89 gr. pellets? let me know how you do if you decide to. i don't know if you read some of the past forum of what i wrote but i have dicided to get me a Huma regulator. i will probably get less shots but consistancy is what i am looking for. most people that have Huma regs. are impress with the consistancy and accuracy. it's like a no guessing game. keep me informed if you do anything different.

I bought my Huntsman in 2017 from AOA.Here are two of my latest chrono. sheets for my Huntsman. I installed a .06 shim behind the hammer spring and increased my 15.89 from 833 to 898 fps. 18.13 went from 810 to 856 FPS, I have a gain of 25 fps on the sheet but thats wrong. You can adjust your hammer throw and get about a 10fps. increase from min to max. I never adjusted mine, just put in the shim. I will TRY to post a video a fellow shooter made to show how to install the shim. You can use a washer of some kind as a shim.
