Daystate Huntsman Classic

Got hooked on PCP’s and spring guns. Wanting to get a Huntsman Classic for the collection. I spoke to AOA they said shot count was around 15 shots for .22 in the 30fpe. Wanted to see if anyone had one or if they had better shot count with regulator? Any info on the .177 would be appreciated too.

Thanks,

Bran

I have owned the Daystate Regal XL .177 for ~2 1/2 years now. The gun is airgun perfection. You would surely love it.

The rifle has a traditional rifle design. Daystate fit this Regal with a fine Minelli stock of beautiful walnut. The gun is light, 40 inches long and gets ~60 shots before any POI change -- if memory serves. This outstanding performance is attributed to a patented Harper sling-shot valve system. My rifle is unregulated and no regulator is necessary in this caliber.

I rate this rifle a 5* on a scale of 5.

PS: This gun is very accurate.

PPS: I stand by my assertion on the shot count. In fact, I will run a chronied shot string now and post the results.

* Suggested fill pressure 210 bar.

That doesn't sound right to me-I have one at my house that belongs to a relative-I seem to remember the shot count was closer to 30 when we chronographed it. It also seemed like 3100 psi was the optimum fill pressure. I haven't shot it much but it's a nice gun. Maybe someone who has more experience will chime in.

You might try a search here?

Are you referring to the short tube classic shot count 15 shots or the Regal get around 30 both unregulated.

I just pruchased Huntsman classic used from a yellow forum member. They are spot on with the 15 shots at 30 ft lb. I tuned the power back down to 24 ft lbs and was able to get 23 shots at this tune. I have installed several lane regulators in other similar platforms such as s 500 carbine which has more tank volume but rifle but is less efficient from factory. I was able to gt 34 full power shot with 18.1 @880. With the Daystate being more efficient and the tank being smaller I have been hesitant about installing one on this rifle. I also own Regal xl which is a fine rifle. Hope this helps.

I just shot 70 rounds with my Daystate Regal XL .177 cal, unregulated on my 20 yard indoor range.

In the photos that follow the target on the right represents shots 50-60, the photo on left represents shots 69 and 70.

Also, I will attempt to upload photos of the shot string done with the Labradar.

Mine looks exactly like the one in Ted's video above. Mine is the early version that was advertised as producing 28 FPE. In actuality, 24 FPE is more like it. I have mine detuned to 21 FPE and I get 30 shots with mine shooting JSB 15.89 gr. It's a laser. It's a beaut. It's a keeper. Prettiest rifle in the rack. Light weight. Slim and grippy and a delight to shoot. I'll never put a reg in it. It's the best back yard squirrel gun that I own. At only 21 FPE, it kills squirrels outright and I don't have to worry about pass-throughs. 30 FPE, like the one in Ted's video, would be too much power for my purposes. I've got more powerful guns for long range hunting.

When shopping for a Daystate Huntsman Classic, be sure to know beforehand what your needs are. And then verify the output power of the gun before you pay. The early ones, like mine, were lower power. The later ones, as in Ted's video, were higher power but with low shot count. Then Daystate offered a tube extension before they went to the Huntsman XL, and later the Regal. Make sure you're actually getting what you want.

I bought mine used. The seller passed it off as being exactly like the one in Ted's video. As soon as I chronied it, I knew something was wrong. AoA helped by confirming that mine was actually one of the earliest Classics of lower power (24 FPE). Turns out, it was PERFECT for me. Don't let the seller BS you about power. Make him prove it before you buy.

I just want one that has the smaller tube. 30fpe would be nice but I am more going for the look like the one teds holdover has in the video.

I have contemplated getting a regal or the xl and cutting down the tube. This way I know exactly what I am getting. Anyone done this or have reasons not to? I have posted on yellow wtb Classic but worried about people trying to scam.

I have the very rifle you are looking for. I bought it off of a fellow member on the yellow. If you go to the bone yard and look at the sold items it will be on page two I think. I bought it with a small leak that I have not resealed it yet. And it did not have a mag. I have been shooting it from my single shot tray. I can verify that it only gets about 15 shot in a 20 fps spread @ 30 ft lbs. The hammers in the daystes a easy to adjust and I turned it down to where it is shooting now about 23 ft lbs. and it gets about 24 shots from 2700 down to 1800. If you are interested in it I might consider selling it. And the only reason is the low shot count. I would also like to add that it shoot the best with the single shot tray as I have tried the mag out of my regal in it. I can reseal the gun or you can have it like I got it. I have many other rifles and just bought it to play with and mabe regulate it but after installing 10 or so regs in other rifles I don’t think there would be enough return to justify installing it. Just my thoughts. You can send me a pm. I am on the old yellow several times and a couple since it changed. The guy I purchased if from goes by Machinegun on the yellow.

Thanks Chris

When I bought a brand-new .22 Huntsman Classic, it came from AoA with a shorter chamber-tube than the one pictured on their website and I was very disappointed in the shot-count. That's probably what they're selling now. As taken from Airgun Chronicles-

14.3 grain JSB Express, 2800 PSI, 19 shot power-band, Low= 867, High= 900, ES= 33, SD= 5, Average= 879 FPS/24.5 foot-pounds
