Daystate Delta Wolf, Is It Just Me .. ?

Hey Guys,

I have been watching the threads, discussions, and various vids posted up on these guns and i have noticed a trend...

Now i may be off base here, maybe i missed some posts or discussions, but i have noticed that there is a glaring Lack of reports on the D/W small calibers here in the USA market..to this point ???

Call me nuts , or a conspiracy theorist, but it sure seems odd to me that all we are seeing is .25 and .30 being talked about.. sure the overseas vids show a couple of .177 sub 12ft.lb but really nothing to speak of about the .22 , Hmmmm

Now i know for a fact the .177 and .22 A.R.T Daystate barrels are Dead Nuts accurate, hell i own a one time.177 record holding Redwolf ( bought Ken Hick's Wolfpack personal gun ) , and the .22 guns are Very well known for their shooting..

Soooo are we seeing " Market Manipulation " by Daystate sending out the .25 and .30 over the small caliber guns 1st to try and gain some respect in those calibers, i dare say it is more than possible...

If this is the case i'll be damned if i will wait longer for my pre-order .22 because they are trying to push the other calibers 1st, to be perfectly honest if this is the case its pretty damn poopty of them to do so considering the Lengthy wait for this gun .....

If this is verified / confirmed you can bet i will Not be paying for mine the day that email finally comes...

I hope someone in the know can prove my theory wrong .. Peace Mi amigo's !

I think it’s just the general movement to the larger calibers with air guns in general. How many FX impacts and others are sold in 177 and 22?

interesting enough having been down that road I’m pretty much done with the 25 cal and certainly am done with the 30.

There really isn’t much ( if anything ) that I want to do with an air rifle that I can’t do with a 22 cal.
Don’t yell at me I know I’m in the minority.

I read the post and it is interesting. I have a .177 on order. Actually the 1st time I put it on order back in July I was asked for a 50% down payment so I declined. I also have a Red Wolf and love it.

I know that COVID has provided manufacture and shipping challanges. But several times a week I see photos and news stories about Delta Wolf and still not even an estimate on when the .177 and .22 will be in stock. I joke that it will be a long time before I get a Delta Wolf and/or vaccinated for COVID!

Why am I responding here?? Heck, you got me curious about your record holding Red Wolf. Is there a link where we can read about it. Or can you share the details!!!

Thanks

same here, I just received my dream-tac compact in .177 and really love it. My impact is in .22 and have .25 barrel kit but I don’t shoot it in my yard and it’s hard to get out with Covid and kids. With .177 pellet at low speed i pretty much shoot any day and just about any time.

To OP: My personal feeling is people here in the US have a hard time justify $3k for a .22 or .177 airgun when many 1000 dollar airguns shoot .177 and .22 extremely well now and days. for me $3k is hard to justify for any airgun.

There has been an incredible amount of pre-production testing of Delta Wolfs, and testing of the first shipment. Have you considered the possibility that .177s and/or .22s might not have passed the extreme scrutiny yet, and they'd rather get them right before putting them out there? Stranger things have happened.

Could be they're doing you a favor by not shipping your's yet; and could be it will be worth the wait.

Thats what pushed me away (price tag) , I like the chrono inside the gun is cool autotune is cool but its almost ritualistic at this point to play with my tune :) I love it so much. I am surprised by the number of YouTubers that haven't really posted about it. I would like to see some videos with more variety in calibers. maybe some hunting too.

Im in the same boat. I'm even down to a 30fpe .22 as my max power gun. And a 20fpe .22, 10fpe. 177 and 4fpe .177. all are proven pesting guns.

As to why no .177 or .22 news on the DW is very interesting. With the slug craze in .22 you'd think they'd be getting them faster

I'm super curious about this record? Please fill us in on that... Thanks!

I too am curious. I know the guns shoot well but I don't follow records. What kind of records?

Hi Guys,

for those asking for my Redwolf pedigree.. Lol

here is one link for ya

DAYSTATE REDWOLF 50 YARD Unlimited class NEW USA RECORD - Airgun Nation

Now as to the comments about the smaller caliber guns, i too am an avid fan of .177 and .22, hell out of the dozen-ish pcp's i own , only one is a .25, a new Cricket II

I personally Love the challenges that the smaller calibers present in various conditions, hence the pre-order of the .22 D/W.....

as i stated the " A.R.T " .177 and .22 HP Line up of Redwolf's and the few in the Pulsar are definite , proven , lasers in all forms of shooting so i am Not buying the " failed to pass mustard " on just this one gun...

Daystate hasn't done a damn thing in comps in large bore , that's why i posted what i did about Market Manipulation...

Again i welcome someone in the know to prove me wrong , i will happily admit i am full of poop and move on, but i have a sinking feeling i am right about this one and it's just not cool....

Thanks for the responses , i enjoy each of your comments and thoughts..

Peace !

Yeah Daystate could definitely be doing that. Honestly I don't even look at .177s now days, though I shot them most my life. So an American market might very well be prejudiced for bigger is better mentality (I don't believe it is. Every caliber has a place in my book, but I just haven't found one recently for .177). On your note: they have poured a LOT of money into this platform. I doubt they would waste it by letting the smaller cals go to chance. Daystates has a reputation to keep, so your theory is very plausible to me.

Correct - yes at the time he shot it that’s true. It’s been eclipsed by a few people since then, Mike Niksch is the current record holder at 749-40x. Ken shot 724-6x FYI. An * denotes 50 yard distance...

There are FAC (high power) versions in the UK that are .22. This was one of the first reviews I saw of the Delta Wolf months ago. It drove tacks!

I’m confident that I could install, with the help of a machinist, a proven .22 ART barrel from a Red Wolf, in any of my bullpups and it would shoot lights-out.

I would say the OP has some good points and I’ve had some of the exact same thoughts. However, I haven’t thought of the issue with the barrel quantities being limited (viperjoe brought it up). That makes good sense to sell small calibers to the UK and larger to the power hungry American folk (guilty 😉).

I bet we’ll see the .22s show up before EBR 🤓

A big issue... in response to what zx10wall has just mentioned ... is that there are limited options for 15mm barrels from LW... which is what the Delta uses. No poly's in 15mm. The RW is 16mm and turning it down to 15mm will result in the bore "growing " in size a small amount. I have not experimented with that enough to know the predictability of the outcome but given that the RW barrel is so good the way it comes from LW, I can't see it being better when trimmed to 15mm. At some point, I WILL likely do one to compare. Daystate is sourcing these from LW and it's not offered to us (the public) by LW yet (if ever). I'm sure that has something to do with the 22 availability in the USA. The 22 non-FAC is standard rifling and is available from LW in 15mm.

Hi guys, As the owner of airguns from .177 springer, .22 springer, .22 PCP, .25 PCP, .30 PCP's and .45 PCP, I like them all. However, when I hunt gray squirrels I choose the .30 PCP. At 98 fpe from a JSB 50.15 grain pellet to 93 fpe from a 44.75 grain FX Hybrid slug, I like to know that my quarry dies as quick and painless death as possible. Through the years I've taken the occasional heart/lung shot with a .22 PCP and had to have a follow up shot because it didn't pass all the way through. Since I started using the .30 cal at greater than 90 fpe, that hasn't been an issue. I've also bagged whitetail deer with the Airforce Texan .45 PCP and 290 grain NSA slugs. Also, complete pass through with a nice blood trail. So, there are indeed applications where larger calibers and higher energies are appropriate. Meanwhile, I hope everyone enjoys the caliber and discipline (target or hunting) that they choose. PS I will receive my .30 cal Delta Wolf next week.
