DayState / Brocock reliability question?

I am considering purchasing either a DayState or Brocock. How reliable has your DayState / Brocock PCP’s been? I currently own (we will just call it Brand X) and I’ve had one rifle returned to Brand X for warranty work and quite frankly I’m fed up. They have had my Brand X rifle for 2 FRIGGING months! I‘m also on a free factory upgrade list since October 2019 For my other Brand X rifle. Needless to say my patience is running extremely thin and hence the desire to “jump ship”. 


I realize that all things mechanical can and do suffer occasional failures but Brand X’s support is leaving me with a severe case of sour grapes. If you have ever had the need to return your DayState or Brocock back for warranty repair (in the US) what has been your experience? What has been the turnaround time?


Im not trying to bash any particular brand because my experience with Brand X has mostly been very positive.

I have owned several Daystate PCPs since the 1990’s with no issues.

I would boldly say that Daystate and Brocock are more reliable than FX. I own many FXs so I can tell you this without BS! I still buy FXs because I can but wouldn't if I couldn't afford to.

I own many of both Daystate and Brocock brands and they are great! The Daystates are the better guns that cost more too. Daystate owns Brocock.

Best bang for the buck is a used Brocock Bantam HiLite. Not regulated but shoots like a regulated gun one less thing to worry about nd Airngasman got excellent 100 yard groups with his. I have couple of these as well and they are very accurate. Probably find them for around $600-$650 used.

Just had a magazine issue but not a deal breaker for me.

I love my Daystates especially my Pulsars and Redwolfs! Their triggers are to DIE FOR!!!

Most (probably all) will say they both are very good and reliable except Hawkeye.

Yeah, I've had my share of problems with Daystate, while my Brococks have actually been almost trouble free. My old non-regulated Bantam HiLite is my backdoor gun, and it's very accurate.

My FX rifles have have been totally trouble free. Sometimes I think it's just luck of the draw.

My experience certainly isn't as deep as that of Yo, but I have owned all three brands. In my experience the Daystate/Brocock brands are more robust designs, and are generally more problem free than FX. The FX barrel system with liner, sleeve, shroud, etc. is simply not a recipe for durability. That said, the FX Royale/Boss platform is a proven one for trouble free performance, and the only one I still own. Back to the OP's question, I'll offer another suggestion, the Weihrauch HW100. It is a tank, accurate, great trigger. Not a lot of bells and whistles, moderate power and shot count, but an absolutely fantastic rifle, easy to tune, and a great value in today's market.

Don't forget the good ok reliable FX BOBCATS too based on the Royale platform.

I agree with the HW100 recommendation and add the HW110 and HW100 bullpups if you need them short. I especially like their low 200bar fill requirement and quietness.

I am a Wolverine guy and can say they are reliable,would be easy to reseal,but not easy to tune. They come tuned to shoot one weight of pellet and they do that very well. I can't comment on the electric guns because I am not interested in them. If you want one and can afford one,get it. Kanga Roo,out?

I’ve own my .22 Compatto for over two years and just under a year on my .22 Bantam Sniper HR. Both have thousands of pellets through them, nary a hiccup. Both have been used for pesting in and around barns and in the field. Kills out to 100 yards with both. On the Compatto I changed the O ring at the inlet valve after it started leaking there. Simple fix. On my Bantam I replaced the Oring at the inlet valve, because I filled it too fast and dislodged the Oring. Both fixes online and simple to do. I have posted some of my groups here. Both guns are “boringly” accurate. Do a search here and see what others have previously said about these fine, robust (to a point) PCPs.

My hands-on Brocock experiences are from a walnut stocked Concept Elite S6 that I've had for about 4 years, and the Concept Lite XR that I'm reviewing right now. 

That Elite has been 100% reliable, over 4 years. It saw heavy use when new, and occasionally gets taken out and shot, and it has needed absolutely nothing other than air and pellets. And it also holds the same POI, no matter how long it has sat.

By all indications, the Lite XR seems to be right there with it for reliability. 

I also spent about 2 months with a Daystate Red Wolf. It wasn't a long time, but I put a whole lotta pellets downrange in that time (I think it was around 5000). Complete reliability/dependability from it too.

my .22 compatto i bought used from an AGN member has turned into my favorite gun. my wildcat .25 has only been out twice this summer. i have shot hundreds of birds and gophers with it. it has been covered in dirt, and grit from laying on a hay bale (you didnt hear that Ranchibi) and it has worked flawlessly. built like a tank! and as accurrate as any pcp out there. every airgunner needs to own a brocock.

I had 7,000 rounds through a Brocock Commander before it developed a leak-down issue. I recently sold it, not because it leaked down, but because I like my Brocock Concept Lite much better and prefer it over the Commander.

I would highly recommend the Brocock and Daystate brands. They are very well built and carry a 2 year or more warranty, for example, the Concept Lite has a 3 year warranty.

I get about 30 to 40 rounds out of the Concept Lite before I have to refill. I like it mostly because it's better balanced than the Commander and I can stand without it being top-heavy. I realize I am trading ~180cc versus ~480cc with tube versus bottle but I find it fits my frame much better.

The Commander is really nice and I had 7,000 rounds through it but standing the Concept Lite is really well balanced from left arm to COM balancing.

I've never owned a Daystate but have had 4 FX a EdGun a Kaliber Cricket and have had no problems with any of them except the edgun. I would buy another EdGun if they had more than one dealer in the US as I feel the service would be better.

I have two Bantam Brocock (4.5 non regulated and a Sniper regulated).

I have a Wolverine HP Regulated in 25, an Air Ranger Sniper in 25 and a Regal XL in 22 

I changed the bottle of the Bantam Sniper for a 560 cc and also the one of the Wolverine. 

The Wolverine is outstanding but much longer and heavy than the Bantam. The Bantam is the must comfortable and gives a lot more shots per fill. Both are very accurate but the Wolverine wins in that. 

The Bantam wins in weight and comfort.

If you enjoy shooting and you can feel it, buy the Wolverine. 

If you are a pragmatic, buy the Bantam Sniper.

Nice YO, I’ve been getting consistent dime size groups at 40 yards off the bipod, no rear bag, just my hand. The gun is wickedly accurate.
