Daylight? We don't need no stinking daylight!!

I was reading a thread here and the OP said he couldn't wait till daylight so shooting could resume.

Been there, done that.

But now I shoot in the dark almost as good as in the day!!

This pan, don't tell my wife, is at 70 yards.

Yup the DIY style of nightvision really werqs quite well for sure.

I put one together some years back that had better resolution than most of the spendy new digital stuff of the day. This is the final iteration of the unit.

It's all on quick release mounts so comes off of the scope in a few seconds.

Then I got a Sightmark Photon which was a real scope and it was marginally better resolution wise but the ATN 4K rules and has all of the insane apps too.

Hey Bio. What do you as an IR illuminator on your very nice setup?

Cheaper yet is this -

CountryTrails spot light.1628384920.jpg

CountryTrails recharagable from RuralKing for $14.

Here is what the SPOT looks like at 19 and 70 yds.

This thing has the tightest spot I have seen. Can't help from chuckling when you first see it - its that tight.

Had mine for 6-7 years and it still works great.

$14 is a helluva deal! Exude OD lights (made by Umarex) use a lens system with their lights and have almost perfectly concentric spot light circles. They also don’t give off a noticeable halo effect that can “bleed” from around the light source partially illuminating what the light is mounted to and objects around it (including you). Within the range mentioned Exude lights have the tightest spots I’ve seen, but cost significantly more. They make small torches you can mount to a scope or picatinny rail depending upon your mounting accessories.

@biohazardman I’ve been curious about these since I became aware of the old Nite Site system. It didn’t take long to learn that British ratters were rigging up DIY setups. What I have wondered for a while is, how do people use this sort of system without the light from the screen reflecting off of them and giving away their position soooking the animals? I’d love to use something like this for night-time garden pesting, raccoon hunting, and possibly coyote hunting.
