Damaged Scope Using on New HW77K SE

I've known for years that springers can damage a scope. On August 11th I bought an el cheap ($69) Monstrum 2x7x32 AO scope that I thought was springer rated. Guess not.

I used the scope on a couple of .22 rimfire with no issues. Not near as nice as my other scopes, but I didn't expect it to be and it was certainly ok for the use I intended. Yesterday, I put this scope on a brand new HW77K Special Edition .22 springer air rifle. I shot the rifle four times to sight it in at 13 yards. I was very pleased to have it zeroed on 3rd shot.

This morning my son came over to check out the new rifle. He picked it up and said, "you know this scope has an elliptical view, rather than round"? I looked through the scope and sure enough it is severely damaged. I guess that 4th shot, after which I didn't look through the scope again, did the trick.

I've done a bunch of searching, even before I put the Monstrum on this rifle for springer-rated scopes. I even sent Hawke an e-mail for a recommendation. They got back with me yesterday and recommended a scope for a springer and suggested I NOT get AO. Well, that's a bummer. I don't want 75-100 yard parallax on this air rifle which I will likely never shoot beyond 50 yards.

Anyone have perfect luck with another scope on HW77? It is about 15 FPE.

Thanks
