Hellow all. I recently purchased a new Daisy 901 powerline to replace my older 855 and finially had the time today to take it out for it's first test/zeroing run. I also kitted it out with the Buck Rail UNI adapter/moderator kit and the CVLife 3-9x40 scope. I am using JSB .177 7.33gr Diabolo domed pellets. Everything went smooth for the first 20 or so shots. After that, the pump-arm no longer 'locked' in the closed position. The best I can describe it is that it felt 'loose' or just 'slides' over where it used to latch closed. It then began to forcefully release/spring-out after 8-9 pumps (max is 10 per the manual) and I now have to make a point to wrap my hand around it & the barrel to hold it down (lest it spring out suddenly and shake my aim).
I initially thought the tabs or grooves inside the pump-arm grip may have been sheered off somehow (I am fairly lankey, and don't pump too aggressively even on my lighter 855). However, after a visual inspection, the tabs/grooves inside the handle all *appear* to be in good order still. Yet it doens't lock down tight anymore (and it appears that it is only the friction/resistance of those plasctic tabs/grooves that is keeping the pump arm from shooting back out as you approach the maximum recommended pumps).
Has anyone else encountered this issue or found a remedy for it?
UPDATE: I did a little DIY fix by applying a few layers of 0.5"-wide masking tape around the tabs on the frame of the airgun that are supposed to 'lock' the pump-arm in place. So far, it seems to create enough friction to keep it tight even after the maximum 10 pumps. However, I am now also noticing a high tendancy of shots keyholing on paper targets instead of the clean holes I was initially getting. For reference, the initial ~20 shots (before the pump-arm locking issue began) were clean (no keyholing on paper targets) and were pretty fast to zero. Now, I have it zeroed to 0.5" at 25ft even with the keyholing, but only 1 out of 4 or 5 shots will fly 'clean' and not keyhole the target. Still using the same JSB Diabolo 7.33gr ammo, which ran fine in my Daisy 855 and seemed to run just as well in this new 901 for the first ~20 shots.
