Daisy Champion? Avanti? model 99?

I've seen the current production (?) Daisy rifles that look like an old Red Ryder except with peep sights and are single shot "muzzle loaders". I understand they are very accurate. I think I want one. Anybody got one ? Tell me about it. Thanks.

edit- looks like what I want is the 499B Champion for about 149.00

Back in the sixties I had a model 99. It was designated as the official air rifle for The boy scouts. That rifle was incredibly accurate at 20 feet, which was the longest shot in my small backyard. I wish I still had it. I've often been tempted to buy the 499.

Oh, and lots of folks have hacked the stock end off and modify to fit.

You will not regret getting a 499. I have one and love it. I even did the Red Ryder spring mod and boosted the fps by 150 and is still every bit as accurate.

It is ridiculously accurate. Mine can LITERALLY do hole in hole at 10 yards

Agree, this is the highest end most 4.5 bb gun you can get, I got one and its so nice to shoot it on winter time.

Have this 99 made in 1960. Not powerful but very accurate at 20 ft. Absolutely the most accurate bb gun I've shot.
