Daisy Daisy Avanti 753W Elite Competition- Information wanted.

I recently picked up this Daisy Avanti 753W. New old stock. Trigger was horrible. Over 10 pounds. Did the complete trigger job which included a adjustment screw added for sear engagement. Now 12 ounces with no creep. Could go even lighter. Accuracy is outstanding. On a calm day it will bust aspirin tablets at 40 yards. (Using 7 grain RWS Hobby) This one loves these pellets better that RWS R10’s. Most accurate gun I’ve owned since the Diana 75 and FWB 300. I’m trying to find out the year of production. Maybe July 2004? This one has the cast metal pumping lever. Not the plastic one on current models. I am also wondering when Daisy started making the plastic pumping lever. And if the plastic lever holds up. I have mounted a scope on this one but would like another one for the Diopter. Any help is welcome. Opinions on one you might own.

Not complicated at all. Here is a step by step guide. I also ordered a new trigger guard, trigger, sear etc. (Parts needing to be modified) It came as a unit from Daisy. The lady at Daisy was very helpful. I modified the new parts so as not to damage the original ones. The entire order with o-rings for three rebuilds came to $23 including shipping. $10 was shipping. Daisy parts are dirt cheap. The parts list is confusing so this was my order. Took about a week. The trigger is now outstanding.

Thank you. I appreciate all this info. This could be a fun summer project. I think I’ll probably sand and refinish the stock while I’m at it. Thanks again,
Kenny

I may have gotten incorrect information. The pumping lever on the current 753S (synthetic) (Wood model discontinued) may still be cast metal. Can anyone confirm this? Thank you.
If so inclined, a billet pump lever wouldn't be too bad to get made at a machine shop... At least if its like the one on my 880 silver.

I have the CMP model . My Trigger is ok . A stiff trigger , single stage but a wall at first touch then a very smooth pull (maybe 4 pounds with a crisp let off ) The pull is like very stiff grease right from the start till let off . very constant no play in it at all . once you figure it out it isn't bad .

the biggest problem with the trigger is the hammer spring is connected to the trigger
i have a 853 apart and for the life of me i haven't been able to think how i could get the hammer spring off the trigger
753 vs 853
different stocks and front and rear sights
Yes. The hammer spring drives the system. The “lawyer “ spring under the sear can be removed. The spring from the trigger to the piece above the trigger can be reduced and shortened to almost nothing once the sear adjustment screw is installed.

yes that has been removed
so, if the small spring at the bottom could stay and the sear ground down and the hammer spring have a new support at the rear
then the trigger would be as light as the small spring was
the side cover could be drilled for fasteners, but the R&D has not been done

This is the way to do a fantastic trigger modification. Totally adjustable. Safety in tact. I just placed this order today for 3 trigger assembly kits, and the housing to drill and tap. Plus two foam wipers for a future rebuild. I am ordering a 753S today to keep the Diopter sights on.

I am amazed at how economically those rifles can be maintained, and or modified.

Thanks for pointing this out, I sense some fun to be had with a Daisy.
These rifles when the trigger mod is done are unbelievable. So easy to work on and reseal. About a dollar to rebuild. Ten minutes with a screwdriver and a dental pick to remove o-rings. Accuracy is as good as any high end target rifle. Decades ago several guys and gals used these in our league. Shot in the top tier. I turned up my noise to them back then. One never stops learning.

where did you order the parts from that just takes me to the PDF of the trigger mods
Daisy. Easiest to call. Wonderful people.
1. Keep in mind that when the new adjustment screw is turned inwards to lessen the sear engagement, the spring on the upper left of the trigger is compressed. This spring needs to be almost with no pressure on it when the adjustment screw is not yet inserted. And VERY light duty.
2. When using the 8-32x3/4 socket head screw, turn the head down to a bare minimum to be able to tuck in the new trigger housing channel. I used the small 1/4 sanding drum Dremel bit to make the groove.
3. The mod calls for the removal of the cast pin on the trigger housing. I used a Drexel metal cutting bit, not nippers. The pin only needs to be partially removed. Just enough for the adjustment screw to pass through.

Good info!
I have Hobbies in stock, and the guns that like the R10s don't like the Hobbies.
I mounted a scope as well, but it is one thet is springer damaged. I recently acquired a Beeman blue ribbon that has parallax and focus, to very close in, that would be perfect for this gun, and shooting wasp in the grass. 👍

Got in my new 753S. Did the trigger modification and lube. Kept this one with the Diopter. Unbelievable accuracy at 40 yards. This one loves the RWS Hobby 7.0 grain pellets also. Shoots them at 525 fps. Love shooting with the target sights. Not crazy about synthetic stocks (packed the cavity with memory foam) but these 753’s aren’t lookers, just shooters. No other 6lb one pump or one cock rifle out there that I know of with this accuracy. The simplicity of the 753 is amazing. This is how mine are rigged.

Very nice Dan. I should look into a 753 to go with my 853. They are a pleasure to shoot, especially after the trigger is fixed.
