Daisy Daisy 853c - Repeater

Newly acquired Daisy 853c. This model is a repeater. Uses a five shot clip. This one is NOS. Serial number indicates it’s a 1989 production. Lothar Walther barrel. Chrony’s in at 531 fps with only 1 fps deviation over several shots using 7 grain RWS Basic lead wadcutters. Today is a complete tear down, lube and trigger job. I got this one to put a dot on. These Daisy’s are incredibly accurate. One pump of a lot of fun.

i wish the C model mags had some sort of index on them, i tried to add br=earing balls with some success but not really
i have a odd duck it is a 853cm model very nice
The C model does index. Auto feed. If the two parts are still available, they would drop right in the CM model.

so i see there are 2 extra parts that make a C here is what my 853cm looks like and there are no parts that move the mag from right to left beside my finger

The CM (clip/manual) model is a manual feed. Daisy left out the actuator bar/clip and spring that is on the C (clip) model. Parts number 40/41 plus the little spring (not listed) is all you need. I’m not sure if they are still available. Call Daisy and check.

The 853c is a rare airgun in the U.S. It was designed for the Canadian government to train their cadets. The Canadian government does not sell them after they are finished with them like our CMP does. The government destroys them. The one I just got has our CMP shipping label on it. I don’t think the CMP here used the 853c. Only the 853. Probably sent by mistake. Never used. Airgun Depot had a few 853c’s for sale once. They bought discontinued/refurbished all the time. These few are the only ones I have found floating around here in the U.S.

Update:
Spend a few hours yesterday installing a sear adjustment screw, polishing contact points, resealing, cleaning and lubing. Trigger out of the box was 6.5 lbs, with creep. Now 14 oz with no creep. First outing this morning I quickly sighted in the dot. This is my first official 5 shot group using H&N Econ II 7.4 grain. Velocity was consistent at 520 fps. First shot the four silhouettes. Four in a row were a hit. Then this 5 shot group. Both at 40 yards. I’m liking this 853c.
