Daisy Daisy 853 - unusual

Newly acquired Daisy 853. This particular one has a Elm wood stock. I haven’t seen these. Went through the entire gun. Total restoration. It wasn’t shot much so nothing but seals and tuning. Trigger/sear polished and a sear adjustment screw added. Trigger at just over a pound with no creep. Stock refinish. Very tight and better than new. Chroni’s at 500 fps with 7.0 RWS Basic lead wadcutters. It came with the original 853 front tunnel and rear diopter sights. I mounted a scope on this one. Accuracy test today. Will keep updating.

Looks good .. i got to wonder if a personal custom wood refinish would really hit on that grain ..

The sights were included. I did a refinish. The grain is much more pronounced in person. This was my first time staining Elm. I kept it in the same color shade as it originally was.

That looks beautiful. I’ve had mine for a couple years now and I keep thinking I should sand and finish the well worn stock. You’ve given me a new inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

All wooden stocked 853’s and 753’s are dowel plugged at the end of the forearm to strengthen the vulnerable weak spot in the wood. Keep the stock from cracking or blowing out there.

i have been upgrading my 853 to what is now the 753 front and rear sights
the rear i have not decided yet but the front is a win
here is a picture with the weights and i use just a kitchen scale
but the globe sight is the win big and open for a better view
old small rear sight will not work Daisies FWB 300 clone sight will
the new barrel weight didn't come with set screws the other one uses in the factory are the same size 1/4-20
weight 5 bucks globe sight 5 bucks
