Daisy 747 Accuracy

This gun is 26 years old. It has been fired thousands of times over the years and the seals and some parts have been replaced. Back then I found the most accurate pellet to be the Beeman H&N High Speeds, which weighted 7.2 grains. These are no longer being made. I tried the RWS R10 WC pellets several years ago and these now are the most accurate. I have tried 21 other pellets but the R10's shoot the best in the 8 and under grain pellets.

Shot at 10 meters indoors, to eliminate wind, off a sandbag with a 2 - 7x scope just to test for accuracy. Target shown has groups that were shot at different times but I didn't want to post a bunch of targets. These are typical of 5 and 10 shots groups when shot off sandbags and with a scope. I would shot 5 shots, measure it, then shot 5 more shots for a 10 shot group. Gun is a little heavy at 3 lbs. The only modification is on the trigger.

Reason for shooting at 10 meters is, the longest distance I have these days is 20 yards, plus it's illegal to shoot air guns in the city limits, other wise it would be shot at 25 yards for comparison.

Sample velocity averages:

RWS R10 7.0 gr. - 414 fps

H&N Match Green 5.25 gr. - 452 fps

RWS Basic 7.0 gr. (weight is 7.4 gr.) - 405 fps

Crosman Dome 7.9 gr. - 382 fps

For the money, it is hard to beat the 747 & 777.In answer to the difference between the 717 and 747, the 747 also has a lothar walther barrel and has an adjustable trigger which can be set to very light. I love both. I have target grips and red dots on mine.

Plus, the trigger can be modified for adjustable sear engagement and over travel.
