Dairy Farm Hunt

I have left my blind up for two days and the birds still seem as nervous as before. I got a few Starlings and a few collared doves, but I have seen the feed piles full of birds. A couple of pictures of what I see out of the blind. I do wear a black face covering.

After this apparent fail I sat in my truck about the same distance from the feed and the birds came pretty much right in. My conclusion. My truck is just or more effective of a blind than the blind is. Go figure!!

I was using the bog death grip tripod. I never clamped the gun into the jaws. PCPs seem to have a different shape than powder burners and it's pretty hard to get a solid grip. However the tripod is so strong and steady I think of it like a bipod used off a bench. I was sitting in a chair and put the gun up and rested it on the tripod. You can see the Leyla 2 resting there. I hold the stock into my shoulder much as you would a bipod off a bench. Just a guess but I felt it was only about 10% less stable of a sight picture than using a bipod normally of a bench.

The tripod is heavy. You wouldn't want to have to carry it to far. It is not as easy to adjust the heighth like the Shockey tripod.

Taalk about the smell. I brough my blind home as it got wet from some rain. I set it up inside my garage. Dang Martha!! It smelled just like the dairy farm. I have to go put it outside in the sun for awhile.

Hey! I bought a cheap gillie suit. Haven't tried it yet but just trying get one up on the Starlings and Collared Doves. Maybe if I just sat real still across from the feed bins the birds would think I was a bush..lol
