CZ barrel - what are their tendencies?

have a taipan vet with the cz barrel i recently acquired. i fired boring old JSB's and had a wide spread of about an inch and a half at 10yds. I was doing a basic zeroing of scope in the back yard. i had the power tuned way down given the space to pushing JSB 25.4g at 650 FPS and had that spread. my older taipan with the lothar walther never had that issue except when lead fouled. I cleaned the barrel and it was pretty good. Is the twist rate such that slow moving pellets have bad accurracy? I don't plan on shooting this gun at low power , this is just a curiosity for me.

Something is definitely wrong. Did you use a moderator? Sounds like a pellet clipping issue to me. Slow moving pellets shoot great out of all my Veterans.

great one dude , i got it from tony at talon tunes and it shot it's customary one pellet group. That guy knows his stuff , i have a 30 cal mod on it.

So at first it couldn't hold a good 10 yard group then you cleaned the barrel and now it's ok? Yo!

If you try different brands of LDCs you may sometimes be able to get better groups. That's how I found out it's always good to have a drawer full of different brand LDCs. Yo!

Many sing the praises of CZ barrels. CZ makes great guns. Like mmahoney suggested something else is wrong.

Example a Taipan Mutant the factory shroud actually would make it throw random fliers once in a while NO CLIPPING odd as it may seem tried a different after market set up then perfect stacks them all day long period. Yo!

Make sure the baffles are stacked right in the factory moderator!

It's clipping the moderator.

Have you addressed this issue with the dealer? It would really be surprising to find out you have a barrel from CZ that is not bored concentric. Is there any SLOP when threading it on like screw in half way is there jiggly wiggly at all and when tight does it seem to thread right all the way till it stops? Yo!

yea , there is slop in the combo of the huma thread and the donnyfl adapter. half way one you can wiggle it. but i figured it would set straight when tightened against shroud end.

I have often found the same conclusion myself haha we are all human (mistakes will be maximized) haha!! I am glad you got it figured out

ALSO you may find this NUTS but try using THICK Teflon tape NOT THE THIN PIPE THREAD SEAL THE THICKER ONE on the threads then SLOWLY in a calm and rational way screw it in perfectly straight then go SHOOT it again. Yo!

I must have a freak Taipan Vet. Mine is a .22 standard shooting slugs and it is silent. Would never even consider screwing something onto the end of it. I see a ton of Vets with big cans on the end of them and wonder what kind of power are you guys pushing to make this gun loud. Did they change something in the newer models? I got mine new in 2017 from R&L.

I had suggested doing this thick Teflon tape on the threaded barrel trick to good ol BigTinBoat for his 22 CZ Barreled Diana Skyhawk and it actually worked groups shrank and no more fliers so I bought it from him. Yo!

NOT yet... It could be DonnyFL adapter too. AIRGUN EVOLUTION had an issue with Donnys ADAPTERS on his (Mutant Veteran or was it a Cricket compact?) Anyway it was Donnys adapter that made things not work so Donny sent him another threaded adapter and problem was fixed worked perfect FYI... Yo!
