Customization - added a bit of wood to my Impact...

I like traditional wood stocks so I decided to add some wood to my Impact.

The wood is "Buckthorn" which is very similar to Osage but more orange in color. Buckthorn is more of a large bush rather than a small tree that grows to about 25 feet tall and rarely more than 3" diameter; the wood has lots of character (swirling grain, pins, knots and checks) and it's very hard. It takes a beautiful polish and has a deep 3-dimensional glow that moves in the wood when viewed from different angles.

EBR is a long way off, lots of practicing to do yet!

The look is very unique for a "black rifle" style. This light color wood is the first time I have seen it used. Your workmanship, and wood choice is outstanding!. I couldn't make that grip in a 100 years.

Yes, looks a bit bizarre but it is a case of form follows function. My shooting is a lot more consistent if I can use the same hold on the grip each time; this grip, being carved to fit my hand forces me to do that.

I'm glad that you are making some of your own grips, they are fun to do and being custom fitted really help with a consistent hold.
