Customization - added a bit of wood to my Impact...

I like traditional wood stocks so I decided to add some wood to my Impact.

The wood is "Buckthorn" which is very similar to Osage but more orange in color. Buckthorn is more of a large bush rather than a small tree that grows to about 25 feet tall and rarely more than 3" diameter; the wood has lots of character (swirling grain, pins, knots and checks) and it's very hard. It takes a beautiful polish and has a deep 3-dimensional glow that moves in the wood when viewed from different angles.

Thought I would share a couple of pictures....

(sorry, a bit of trouble with the images)

Bizarre looking but what fun to have so much individuality to your piece! The pistol grip especially looks full of character and is very pretty.

Yes, looks a bit bizarre but it is a case of form follows function. My shooting is a lot more consistent if I can use the same hold on the grip each time; this grip, being carved to fit my hand forces me to do that.
