I'm going down the road of a custom barrel in the near future. My Texan is a .510 TX2 CF. I've had quite a few bench rest barrel s from different manufacturers but I've had wonderful experiences with Benchmark Barrel out of Washington State. Now they offer cut rifling in any twist you want. I'm going with 1.250 Stainless Blank. Question is Length? I'm running factory 34 in now. Should I stay at 34 or go longer? I have a lathe so I can do the work myself. As far as outside diameter prob should do straight 1.00 inch outta the frame. No bushings? Can I just drill.set holes for.the barrel screws? I have a .250 thick 1inch outside .750 inside piece of carbon fiber that I could use . but I'm scared to any more variables. So prob just straight stainless 1.00 inch outta the frame 11degree crown and 5/8 24 Threads for Donny Fl. I wanna make my twist rate for my accurate molds 650 grain spire point boat tail 1.375 inches long. Velocity at muzzle from 750 to 1000 fps. This is my hunting slash long range bench rest rig. I wanna shoot at a local 100 yard 300 and 500 yard ground hog shoot. I have a cold shot base and decent bench stock. I will have to get a throating reamer for .510. Prob Pacific Tool and gauge. My peers your intelligence and experience is much appreciated!!!!!!!!
