Custom Texan Barrel Any thoughts Input?

I'm going down the road of a custom barrel in the near future. My Texan is a .510 TX2 CF. I've had quite a few bench rest barrel s from different manufacturers but I've had wonderful experiences with Benchmark Barrel out of Washington State. Now they offer cut rifling in any twist you want. I'm going with 1.250 Stainless Blank. Question is Length? I'm running factory 34 in now. Should I stay at 34 or go longer? I have a lathe so I can do the work myself. As far as outside diameter prob should do straight 1.00 inch outta the frame. No bushings? Can I just drill.set holes for.the barrel screws? I have a .250 thick 1inch outside .750 inside piece of carbon fiber that I could use . but I'm scared to any more variables. So prob just straight stainless 1.00 inch outta the frame 11degree crown and 5/8 24 Threads for Donny Fl. I wanna make my twist rate for my accurate molds 650 grain spire point boat tail 1.375 inches long. Velocity at muzzle from 750 to 1000 fps. This is my hunting slash long range bench rest rig. I wanna shoot at a local 100 yard 300 and 500 yard ground hog shoot. I have a cold shot base and decent bench stock. I will have to get a throating reamer for .510. Prob Pacific Tool and gauge. My peers your intelligence and experience is much appreciated!!!!!!!!

Thats foil thin mate ;-)

5/8 = 0.625"

0.625"-.510" is 0.115" in two or 0.0575" and the bottom of the threads is almost cutting into the rifling.

24 pitch thread is 1/24 or 0.0417" on a wall that is 0.0575".

First shot and that muffler is gone to the next county!

Run the threads at least 3/4".

Just my 2 cents worth

Its much much better. It is fine for the average 100 yard deer hunter. I have a cold shot adjustable base and really need perfect bench rest accuracy to utilize it. I really want to go.to a local ground hog match at 100,300,500 yards and shoot my Texan. I don't have the constant accuracy that it will require. Even if I shoot at 100 and 300 yards in the AR class. Factory barrels are a game of luck some better than others. The match bench rest barrels are all nice after having had many in the past I know I'm chasing my tail. Full 1.005 diameter barrel will help. My factory Texan barrel is a full 1 inch diameter tensioned with .250 thick carbon fiber tube. I'm not sold on carbon fiber there are many problems with it in the powder burner community. My accuracy is getting better but no way enough for long range hog hunting targets or real ground hogs😃 It always is easier watching a YouTube video when someone else is shooting Long range ELR air guns lol🤔

My mistake the thread s for the Donny FL emperor are .675 so a lil metal before rifeling. A bigger thread diameter would be better like .750 or 3\4 inch. Current factory barrel threaded for Donny.

Chickenthief I was thinking it would be easy to chuck up the back the Donny FL and put thread diameter 3\4 inch .750in in it. It is only aluminum so it should thread real easy with a tap on the three jaw chuck of the lathe. There are real benefits to a larger thread diameter. I could actually put a nice target crown on it. What you think? The Donny 2 inch diameter. I watched some testing on Mark and Sam after work YouTube channel on the benefits of large threads for ELR muzzle breaks. I'm sure the same applies for us in the air gun community.

The bigger the better!

It gives you a flat that is 100% square to the barrel and the larger the diameter the better support for a big "stanley" hanging at the end.

I think (no gurantee for good!) that if you support your barrel at the frame end with a tight fitting O-ring then you might fight barrel harmonics batter.

Like the original one (that supports nothing) but to suit your barrel and make way for an O-ring between barrel and POM/Delrin bushing.

Ruger powder burners has relied on a positive barrel pressure point from the 1950's to break up barrel harmonics.

Sorry about that ;-)

Most interweb keyboard "experts" know i all, i had to fail oh so many many times to know just a little.

Thats why i rarely go into heated interweb discussions, It's not about who's right, it's all about who shout the loudest and is most obnoxious.

When threads heat up i back down and folks as yourself goes to PM and get my true info.

Best to you and hopes on a true 1 MOA shooter for you!
