Custom sling plate - a unique way to mount a sling

I've mounted slings on many rifles as several of you have also. It's always a bit nerve-wracking when you go to drill a hole in a fine stock. Things can go mildly wrong or horribly wrong. I found a unique way to mount at least the rear sling stud from a small company in England called Custom Sling Plates. Its essentially an aluminum spacer you put between the stock and the butt pad that has a sling stud installed in it. It does add a small amount of weight (I forgot to weigh it before I installed mine) and approximately .375 inches (9.5mm) which is the width of the sling stud to the length of pull. The weight and length were not noticeable to me on my Pulsar which is already pretty heavy. If you're interested, the website is www.customslingplates.co.uk.

I am in no way affiliated with this company. I just thought it was a unique way to mount a sling stud without drilling your stock.

Here's mine:

Very good looking product.

Thanks for the info & link

I do find it curious that for the Daystates, there is a logo on the sling mount that will be hidden when installed.

Have I missed something?

Ed

No logo on mine. I did email the maker before I purchased. He is making these on the side as a hobby/job. Seems like he’s doing well with them. Shipping was fast and communication was good.

Perhaps the logo is for illustrative purpose only

In truth, it's of little consequence

Tell me please, ronmcc4

Did you have any issue locating the screws under the rubber butt pad?

Did Access holes self heal,or did you need to make a plug?

Thanks

Hey Ed. On the Pulsar the butt pad is adjustable so there is an exposed Allen head bolt to adjust or remove it. Once that was off the smaller bolts to remove the inside base plate were also readily accessible. Longer bolts were provided for installing the adjustable base over the sling plate. If your’s isn’t adjustable or easy to remove I don’t know what the proper procedure would be. If that’s the case, I’d contact the sling plate company to get instructions or suggestions.
