For those who have the DRS Tactical..what scope are you currently running? Looking for some recommendations if I don't go the digital (DNT/PARD) route. Thanks
I haven't seen a Sidewinder, nor are they listed by the dealers that I frequent. Are you willing to contrast the Sidewinder and Airmax?Lol, we are all different. I have no use for 1st focal place scopes. I love the Hawke Sidewinders I have several. I had an Air max, hated it, got rid of it in 30 days. Replaced it with another Sidewinder. A Hawke rep stopped at the range I use for indoors, they are a Hawke dealer. I was able to line up every series they make and compare them side by side on targets for optical clarity and resolution. Even though I don't really like the Sidewinder reticles I can live with them, everything else about the scope for the money is very good. The one on my wife's Springer that for several years was on my TX I would venture is in the 20,000 shot range, flawless. Clicks are spot on. It's great to have choices.
Numbers on a parallex knob are worthless which is why you see few scopes with them. Your parallex changes day by day, or quicker, with conditions .I haven't seen a Sidewinder, nor are they listed by the dealers that I frequent. Are you willing to contrast the Sidewinder and Airmax?
We are two isolated airgunners, I shoot PCPs and my friend a springer, which makes comparisons very difficult, except for online who will extend some advice.
I dislike SF because of the difficulty in reading the numbers on the parallax scale. Using the parallax to focus results in eye strain in a short time, and is unneccessary because we shoot at known, fixed distances. We move between various distances, randomly so the changes happen frequently.
Others have different habits and requirements, but I find that asking can often completely redirect my impressions.
Sheesh lol nice looking scope but 1500!I'd put a Athlon Cronus G2 4.5-29x50 with APRS6 reticle in it because of cost per quality ratio. I've got two and no complaints.
It's made at LOW in Japan.
I've seen them on sale for $1000 new and $800 used.Sheesh lol nice looking scope but 1500!
"Numbers on a parallex knob are worthless " is different from my usage.Numbers on a parallex knob are worthless which is why you see few scopes with them. Your parallex changes day by day, or quicker, with conditions .
Airmax to me was way behind the Sidewinder and even farther behind my Sightron Stacs in brightness, clarity, and resolution. When I looked at the top Hawke with their H7 lens because I like the available reticle, I felt to my eyes the lens were inferior to the Sidewinder. Ok, none of the scopes I have mentioned here optically are close to say a Sightron SVED with the dual parallex knobs or a Nightforce Competition, nor should they be at their price point. Both the Air max and the Frontier had less then a crisp sharp sight picture. Air max clicks were very mushy, they did not inspire confidence.
