Crunchy bolt wolverine 2

Hi all,

my wolverine 2 started making some funny crunchy noises when I would cock the bolt this afternoon. It slides back and forth without resistance, it’s the last 1/4” or so of pull that it would make the noise. It’s still working fine, but I’m wondering what has changed to make it do this. 

The rifle has about 2k rounds through it. I was shooting off a bench from my garage, so I don’t think any crud would have gotten in.

That last 1/4 pull is when sear engagement occurs. It could be a broken spring or anything else. Just be aware it could just stop working & you’ll have to open & see or it could fire when you don’t want it to.

Thank you for the reply. When I took the rifle out of the safe today and tried it, it no longer makes the noise. Maybe something to do with being stored vertically? Perhaps there was a piece of lead or something moved once the rifle was turned to vertical. Nevertheless, that's a really good point you bring up, i'll be mindful.
