Tuning Crown Monster Hammer Spring Wheel

I received one of Mont's aluminum Monster Power Wheels and was able to put it through some paces recently.

While my Crown Continuum factory wheel worked, it would always bind up and I would have to loosen the screw in order to get it to move once it was bound (the gun was NOT cocked).

When I initially installed the Monster Wheel, it suffered the same malady, binding up, so I contacted Mont about the problem. He knew exactly what the issue was and shipped me two brass sleeves that the hold-down screw drops through to tighten. Both were longer than the originally shipped (that one was to replace factory). The longer of the two sleeves Mont sent fit perfectly and I no longer have the binding issue that was present from the factory.

The Monster Wheel works great now, and I am able to make more adjustments than the original factory wheel (see pic). The brass sleeve makes the wheel operate much more smoothly, but also doesn't lose the effect of the detent detection. It operates much better than the factory and with the sleeve, I think that it will likely never bind up again. I am very happy with the performance and would recommend one of Mont's Monster Power Wheels to allow for more adjustments and ease of use.

The factory wheel absolutely, I not only see the dents, but have had to replace the wheel 3 times now (on a 3 year old Crown). The Monster Wheel hasn't had enough usage at this point to determine. I will keep ya'll posted though. I believe that Mont was talking about possibly making the Monster Wheels of a different material, like stainless steel but not certain. Best to PM....Mrshosted....the maker.

Thanks Augie.

This is what it looks like with the 380mm barrel on it. I took a pic of the stock and then went to a car wrap place to see if they could blow it up. They did. I have an extra if this one gets damaged, plus they have the original in their file. I looks even better now with the Monster Wheel though!

the Montster lower wheel or the cam portion is made of stainless steel so we should be good to go. Just wanted to see how bad yours was chewed up because mine was pretty chewed up with barely 2 months of sparing use. This should be helpful info for all t other crown owners with factory wheels, I didn’t know how bad it was till after the upgrade. This is one upgrade I feel that’s worth every penny!!

All of the prototypes are built out of three different materials. The lower area is build of a stainless steel. The top is made out of a 6061 aluminum. And the inter bearing is built out of bronze. I designed it this way to improve cam area of the wheel, wanting to stop dimpling and chipping of the max edge. I'm hoping the stainless will time will last the test of time. Time will tell if the production Gen2 wheel use stainless steel. As my prototype's continue to tested. I advance forward with more improvements and hope to bring them to wide market. When I designed the earlier Impact power wheel my biggest worry was adding the cam and stop dimpling and with holding up the test of time. When I took the Impact wheel to production. I had them built from a 65 Rockwell hardened steel. But it made them amazingly durabull, but hard to but lettering on. Wanting to have better lettering on the gen2 power wheels. I set myself a goal to raise the bar on the generation 2. Starting gen 2 with the design for the Crown. I have a great impact power wheel for anybody that needs one, and I had so many people message me about a power wheel for the Crown. So it was simple decision. Now, the Crown is a beautiful gun. My thought was, you need to build a power wheel that looked as good as it worked. Hopefully every is enjoying the new look of the power wheel. I've accomplished my goal. I more changes in the works that improve the looks even more. I couldn't of got this far with out all the support from all the Crown owners out there.

Thank you for every body's support.
