FX Crown mk2

I've got a MK1 gen 3, and I assume you have "superior" liners in your barrels. I still have a "pellet a" liner in my 380mm barrel. Never felt the need to update or replace the liner since I only use that barrel for pellets, and it's crazy accurate. My gun came with a 700mm barrel as well, but I converted it to a 500mm with "superior" liner, and I use 25gr griffin slugs in it, and just about everything else. The 500 superior is the least picky barrel I have ever used by a looong shot.

For pellets, though, my go to's are jsb 18.13, hades 16gr (although their expansion is basically nil, I still use them for hunting because they are pinpoint accurate). I also like AA 16gr as well, but I've not done extensive accuracy testing with those like I have the first 2 pellets mentioned.

Oh, I also have a 600mm "superior" .30 barrel. I've only ever used 44.75gr jsb pellets in it. But never have done a ton of shooting or testing with it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m going to order some this week and I’ll try some of the aa and griffin.

18.1 gr JSBs with my 380mm barrel same with 700mm barrel. Shot Neilson .217 slugs w/700mm barrel and shoots them decent at 62 yds, can hit 3/4 in spinner 99 percent of the time. Prefer pellets though.
My .30 500mm barrel shoots both the 44.75 and 50 gr FX pellets equally well, can clear my KNY limit spinners at 60yds most times.

my 380 didnt seem to like the jsb 18s very much but I’m definitely going to try some of the fx 30s. Thank you!

Could be the tune. At this point, my barrel is additionally reinforced with a carbon tube epoxied to the liner, so it is less tune sensative. I assume your 380 did like other pellets? As I mentioned, the one that came with my gun is as accurate as it gets. But I did spend quite some time tuning the gun. I think I have it running about 135 bar, just shy of max power around 140 bar (with the factory hammer) I'm not sure if the mk2 has a heavier hammer or not, but I do believe the valve is larger, so it's not apples to apples.

I think I first tested hammer adjustment on the preset you adjust with an allan key. Initial testing was done to find the best (largest) range of power adjustment on the kob settings. (it'll do 960-650fps on hammer and port knob adjustments as it sits) I think this was paired with some rough reg testing to get a feel for how the hammer was interacting with the valve at various pressure and where good power and good range of adjustment was. Then finer reg adjustement testing followed once I had the hammer preset where I felt it should be. Generally, you want to find max output for given hammer force (at max preload for whatever preset adjustement you settle on), and then back off of it till the fps flattens out for a decent range of adjustment (usually around -5%, -10% power as adjusted on regulator) You can also go past peak power to find a plateu, like 145 bar works well for me, too. (remember peak power was at 140, and 135 was where fps flattened out for a good bit, power also drops and fps flattens out if adjusted past peak power output) More pressure will give snappier valve response, and potentially better harmonics. Could even make the gun quieter. I never checked shot count though on 135 vs 145 bar. But I went with 135 since it's lower, and maybe I can get more shots out of the gun? Maybe not, though, I have no idea.

Griffin makes very nice slugs, and they have a wide selection. You spend a little more, but I've always liked them. I think it's worth it. FWIW, those LDC slugs on liquid targets or game are devastating.

Oh, also, not sure if you are new to slugs, but they do foul up your barrel a lot quicker than pellets. So, keep that in mind. I do polish my bores and also treat them with gunzilla after cleaning. This does extend the cleaning interval substantially, but some people dont like to polish barrels, or use bore treatment..... to each their own.

It is extremely accurate with a few different H&N and the jts I have on hand. I’m just starting to learn about the fx barrel system and power plant so I rea appreciate you giving a thorough response!!! im also fairly new to tuning and regulators. I have a good understanding of how it works just not much experience with doing it myself. Again thank you so much!!

My 380mm barrel gun is tuned to shoot them around 820fps and it is accurate enough with the 18gr JSB to cut dandelion stems at 32 yds pretty much every shot, it shoots a few different pellets well JSB 15.89 gr, H/N 14.66 gr and even the heavy 21 Kodiaks.
Thats very accurate, so i probably wouldnt mess with the tune. Its entirely possible tou have a different twist rate or even bore diameter or choke and it just doesnt like the 18.13s. Id probably leave it be if its shooting that well. Ive made clean heashots on squirrel out to 75 yards with 16gr hades in mine, 960fps at muzzle.

I have no intentions of messing with the tune I bought it that way and it will stay like that for as long as I own it. Farthest Ive head shot a squirrel with mine is 60 yds.

I have a MKI that I bought here used. Put a GRS stock on it with a 500mm barrel in .177. This is my field target rifle. Also use it for squirrels (got one with it tonight in the backyard. Shoots JSB 10.34 at 878 fps.
Also have a MKII with two .22 barrels ( one in 380mm and another in 600mm). Both shoot JSB 18 grains and FX slugs very well. The 600mm barrel and slugs can hold a .40 inch group at 100 yards all day. The 600mm barrel has a carbon fiber sleeve, not glued. This closed my group size by half.
This fall I will be installing the arrow barrel and hope to harvest a turkey and a deer.

I have the grs stock myself and it really is nice! I have a 380 .22 a 500 .30 and the arrow barrel on this one but I haven’t gotten to test it yet. I’m just now learning about the barre system and it seems like there is a ton that can be done with it.

I got my MK1 with 700mm slug a barrel to do sub 1/2 moa with 36gr .218 griffin slugs. But it was super tune sensative, and putting any kind of moderator on the end of the barrel no matter how short or long/ light or heavy, affected accuracy negatively. This was before I did any reinforcing of the liners, and that barrel is now a 500mm, but I still have the parts. I really don't do much bench shooting at all. And the 700mm is looong lol. The 380 and pellets really suit me best.

For laughs, lol.

That is a long 1!! I have plans to get a 700 eventually for some longer range around the farm but the 380& 500 are just about perfect for normal usage. I havent tried mine without the factory moderator but I’ll definitely check it out.
