FX Crown hammer weight question

Hi bchannell,
Depending on the original caliber and barrel length, your new Crown Mk II could have come with two different hammer systems. The difference is in the spring carrier and whether or not an additional hammer weight was included. Be aware that the stock hammer (Part # 19039, called "Hammer V7") weighs 16.3 grams. In the .177 and .22 versions the rifle often came with the Spring Holder ( Part # 19902) shown below. That spring holder has a long cylindrical shaped protrusion which fits inside the spring to prevent spring binding under compression.

In this case no additional hammer weight was included.

One can buy a "Slug Power Kit" upgrade (shown below) which includes a different spring carrier (without the protrusion and indented for the spring to go inside slightly), a Tungsten hammer weight, and a pin prob with adjustable pin length. While the tungsten hammer weight is really only useful for the large caliber, higher powered slug shooters, the spring carrier allows one to add any of the hammer weights available for the Wildcat, Dreamline, Maverick, Panthera/Dynamic., and DRS to work with the Crown. I also believe that the .25 and .3 caliber Mk II's came with the newer spring carrier and one of the lighter hammer weights.

Below is a screen shot from a 3D model I made of the Crowns action. It shows the newer spting carrier with an additional hammer weight. Shown in the uncocked position. Also it only shows the cam on the backside of the Power Wheel.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
