Crown 22 Slug Liner

I am about ready to order a Crown and was going to order it in 25 because I like hunting in that caliber. However, after seeing the results of EBR and watching Matt's results with the 22 slug liner, I am seriously considering going 22. I would appreciate your results with the 22 slug liner and information on what ammo you used. Thank you and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

Don’t let the EBR results sway your decision. There were plenty of non .22 that did well. Also, Matt shoots .22 because that’s the largest caliber allowed in South Africa. So if you like .25 I say go with what you really want.

So here is the thing: what do you want to do with it? The perk of the Crown is that it is easy and relatively inexpensive to change calibers, so this is not a make or break decision either way. Is shooting long range your huckleberry? Because there is growing evidence that our race up the calibers was premature and now people are racing back down. And I'm sure this will fluctuate with time, but for most of us the goal is either hunting or paper punching, in which case we have a distance and a prey in mind. Pick what fits that. Do you want to use more air and more expensive rounds for that extra punch, or would you rather a bit leaner of a setup that you can plink for longer on one air tank and where the ammo costs less? Just something to think about.



When buying a lot of people are playing the "maximum possible accuracy" game, only to realize that isn't quite what they had wanted later.

I shoot paper when my favorite target is hibernating, the ground squirrels here in Washington. I often shoot out to 100 yards and found the 25 cal to have a much better punch at that distance. However, I am impressed with the 22 slug results Matt is getting. So, cheaper pellets for paper punching and using less air per shot is good. I realize shooting the slugs will be similar to shooting the 25 as far as air consumption goes, but the impact on the target at 100+ yards with a flatter trajectory and less wind interference is something I like. I have a WC and Impact in 25 now, so I am learning heavily in going with 22 on the Crown as a companion to my 22 WC.

I was wondering what others with the slug liner were getting for accuracy.
