Crow cuts in on the action

Less than one minute after I dropped this squirrel with my .22 marauder for trying to enlarge the hole on a bluebird box, this crow drops in and decides he will bully fuzzy tail. He was eating the brains a few minutes later. He had to see it go down he was on it so fast.

I shot a squirrel 70 yards across the pond and I put the crosshairs on him for a coup-de-grace and a barred owl flew onto him and carried the thing into the woods. Couple hours later the crows found the owl and all hell broke loose.

Oh yea! This pair of crows stay in our area. They nest across the pond. They give the redtail hawk in our yard heck all the time. I've seen them eat my birdseed along side the squirrels so I was surprised at the intensity. But like spyderco says 'all God's critters have knives'. This crow knows how to use that beak.

I never pass on a Crow as they are some of the worst nest robbers around. They are very smart and let other birds raise their chicks to the point of fledging then carry them off.

Yea Dan25, I may have to bust him. Looks like a lot of votes are that way. I've seen many a crow carrying off fledglings. I kinda like this guy though. He hangs around the pond and thinks I'm working with him to scrounge up food. He follows me around on the lawnmower. I rented a backhoe and he thought it was just for him. He's not afraid of hanging around me, but I have no doubt he'd peck my eyes out if I laid still. ; ) He and I guess his mate stay fairly close to the house since they nest nearby. They actually frequent my bird seed area a few times a day.

If I had a choice between a crow or a squirrel ... the crow would be going down for sure !

Sooo many crows here it isnt funny. I would put AAA guns on the roof if it was legal. They are LOUD and up at all manner of hours. Can't stand them.
