Crosman Crosman nitro break barrel locked up

I have a corssman nitro piston .17. Thought I had oiled it before putting it up. Got it out to shoot and it was locked up.
Got it unlocked shot for awhile. Put it up for a while started shooting it again locked up. got it unlocked oil and put away. Had to hit with a 2x4 to unlock.
Do the pistons go bad and how hard are they to replace and where would you purchase one?
thanks

Robert, Yes, pistons go bad, replacement assemblies normally around $40. Search parts diagram, for your model, at Crosman website for part number. Online search, "Crosman repair parts," if not available from Crosman. Search YouTube for "how-to replace" videos. If encountering similar issues with my Crosman F4, I'd first suspect hidden corrosion, then damaged linkage. No resistance when cocking, I'd look to failed piston assembly. Best of Luck, WM
