Crosman MAR177 Upper

Long ago, before I got into PCP's, I had a chance to buy a Crosman MAR 177 AR15 Upper assembly. It's a PCP that fits on a standard AR-15 lower, basically, a 10 meter gun. Out of production now and I can understand why. The market for a $650 PCP upper for an AR15 must be kind of small, but now I'm interested in finding one at a good price.

Does anyone know someone with one of these beasts?

I love the thought of going shooting with my sons, that have AR's and using a pellet gun. Just kinda throws the whole thing into a different realm.

Talk about an idea ahead of its time! I looked into one of these when I first embraced low-power pellet shooting (10m or sub-12 ft lbs) and read that this product was intended to give AR owners a chance to train with their weapons at a lower cost and with a lower shooter profile to the public. Seems to me that the marketplace is far more ripe for this idea now than it was prior to the fundamental changes wrought in this Country between January 21, 2009 and January 22, 2017 .

I think the thought of less expensive ammo was part of it, but at $650 plus pump for another $200 in those days meant you buy a really nice upper and lots of .223 for that $850.

I also believe the model by Pilkington might have been the original that Crosman bought the rights to. If I remember correctly, Crosman bought it, and made some mods so it would use the Marauder magazine and such, though I could be wrong.

They all seem to have evaporated, wherever they went!
